The molecular structures and electronic and optical properties of 2,2'7,7'-tetrakis-(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenyl amine)-9,9'-spirobifluorene (spiro-MeOTAD) in different oxidation states have been investigated by means of DFT/TDDFT methods. Spiro-MeOTAD has been ...

In this work, we identify the importance of C-60 and compact-TiO2 (cTiO(2)) as electron transport layers on the device performance of coevaporated n-i-p perovskite solar cells. We found (1) a synergetic effect between both layers when extracting the charge ...

A new class of thiocyanate-free Ru(II) sensitizers with 4,4-dicarboxyvinyl-2,2-bipyridine anchor and two trans-oriented pyrid-2-yl pyrazolate (or triazolate) functional chromophores is synthesized, characterized, and evaluated in dye-sensitized solar cells ...

New Spiro-OMeTAD analogues and the simpler "half" structures with the terminated methoxyphenyl and/or carbazolyl chromophores are successfully synthesized under Hartwig-Buchwald amination conditions using commercially available starting materials. New fluo ...

Although spiro-MeOTAD 1 is a superior hole-transporting material (HTM) commonly employed in perovskite solar cells (PSC), its high cost is one of the major issues holding back commercialization, which has not been resolved to-date. In this article we intro ...

Interfacial engineering of the meso-TiO2 surface through a modified sequential deposition procedure involving a novel PbI2–HMPA complex pretreatment is conducted as a reproducible method for preparing MAPbI3 based perovskite solar cells providing the highe ...

Citrazinic acid is used as a convenient starting material for both tridentate 2,6-di(pyrazol-1-yl)-pyridine and tetradentate 6,6'-di(pyrazol-1-yl)-2,2'-bipyridine ligands containing carboxylic groups useful for further anchoring of sensitizer on TiO2 for d ...

We present the photoelectrochemical properties of dye-sensitized solar cells using natural pigments containing betalains and anthocyanins as sensitizers. The dyes extracted from grape, mulberry, blackberry, red Sicilian orange, Sicilian prickly pear, eggpl ...

The 2D/3D or 2D/quasi-2D composite mixed-dimensional construction of hybrid perovskite interfaces is gaining increasing attention due to their enhanced stability toward degradation without compromising the corresponding solar cell efficiency. Much of this ...

Two thiocyanate-free ruthenium(II) sensitizers, TFRS-41 and TFRS-42, with distinctive dialkoxyphenyl thienyl substituents were successfully prepared and tested for potential applications in making dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). Subsequent device fabric ...

Two new hole‐transporting materials (HTMs), BX‐OMeTAD and BTX‐OMeTAD , based on xanthene and thioxanthene units, respectively, and bearing p ‐methoxydiphenylamine peripheral groups, are presented for their use in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The novelty ...

Following the 3rd release of the "Emerging PV reports", the best achievements in the performance of emerging photovoltaic (e-PV) devices in diverse e-PV research subjects are summarized, as reported in peer-reviewed articles in academic journals since Augu ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) fabricated with two-dimensional (2D) halide and 2D-3D mixed-halide materials are remarkable for their optoelectronic properties. The 2D perovskite structures are extremely stable but show limited charge transport and large ban ...

A new, but archetypal compound [ Ir( ppy- F-2) (2)Me(4)phen] PF6, where ppy- F2 is 2-(2',4'- fluorophenyl) pyridine and Me(4)phen is 3,4,7,8- tetramethyl- 1,10- phenanthroline, was synthesized and used to prepare a solid-state light-emitting electrochemica ...

Interface engineering and passivating contacts are key enablers to reach the highest efficiencies in photovoltaic devices. While printed carbon-graphite back electrodes for hole-transporting material (HTM)-free perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are appealing f ...

Poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) nanoporous layers were prepared with electro-oxidative polymerization using room temperature hydrophobic ionic liquids as a medium. The synthesized highly porous PEDOT films exhibit room temperature conductivity va ...

Hybrid halide perovskite solar cells were first demonstrated in 2009 with cell efficiency quickly soaring from below 10% to more than 23% in a few years. Halide perovskites have the desirable processing simplicity but are very fragile when exposed to water ...

Simplifying the manufacturing processes of renewable energy technologies is crucial to lowering the barriers to commercialization. In this context, to improve the manufacturability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), we have developed a one-step solution-coa ...

An ionic tris-heteroleptic iridium complex gives green light-emitting electrochemical cells (LECs) with unprecedented performances for this part of the visible spectrum. The devices are very bright (>1000 cd m(-2)), efficient (similar to 3%), and stable (> ...

Phase control of low-dimensional metal-halide perovskites (LDPs) greatly affects their optoelectronic properties, and phase-pure LDPs are desirable to achieve efficient perovskite optoelectronic devices such as solar cells and light-emitting diodes. Herein ...
