This 6th annual Emerging PV Report surveys peer-reviewed advances since August 2024 across perovskite, organic, kesterite, matildite, antimony seleno-sulfide, selenium, and tandem solar cell architectures. Updated graphs, tables, and analyses compile the best-performing devices from the emerging-pv.org database, benchmarking power conversion efficiency (PCE), flexible photovoltaic fatigue factor (F), light-utilization efficiency (LUE), and stability-test energy yield (STEY) against detailed-balance efficien

Perovskite-sensitized solar cells have reached power conversion efficiencies comparable to commercially available solar cells used for example in solar farms. In contrast to silicon solar cells, perovskite-sensitized solar cells can be made by solution pro ...

The present study focused on the development and characterization of four new low-cost hole-transporting materials (HTMs), ZZ01, DJ01, PR01, and PM01, designed based on the concepts of donor-acceptor-donor (D-A-D) or acceptor-acceptor-donor (A-A-D) for app ...

Employing a mesoscopic titania photoanode whose bilayer structure was judiciously selected to fit the optoelectronic characteristics of the Ru-based heteroleptic complex Na-cis-Ru(4,4'-(5-hexyltiophen-2-yl)-2,2'-bipyridine)(4-carboxylic-acid-4'-carboxylate ...

The water splitting is an appealing approach to fulfil the demand of energy without any global concerns. The oxygen evolution reaction is one of way to achieve unlimited energy from water but the low stability, high energy required to drive the reaction (o ...

Organic/inorganic metal halide perovskites attract substantial attention as key materials for next-generation photovoltaic technologies due to their potential for low cost, high performance, and solution processability. The unique properties of perovskites ...

The current study provides an insight into the thermal stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) and the factors causing their degradation. To this end, a systematic stability study was carried out on n-i-p type perovskite solar cells involving mesoporous ...

Colloidal quantum dot (CQD) photovoltaics combine low-cost solution processability with quantum size-effect tunability to match absorption with the solar spectrum. Rapid recent advances in CQD photovoltaics have led to impressive 3.6% AM1.5 solar power con ...

This invention pertains to light emitting materials comprising novel ortho-metalated transition metal complexes [C^N]2ML, comprising chelate monoionic ligands (L), also called ancillary ligands. It has been surprisingly found that when the ancillary ligand ...

Dye-sensitized solar cells are a promising alternative to traditional inorganic semiconductor- based solar cells. Here we report an open-circuit voltage of over 1,000 mV in mesoscopic dye- sensitized solar cells incorporating a molecularly engineered cobal ...

Inorganic-organic hybrid structures have become innovative alternatives for next-generation dye-sensitized solar cells, because they combine the advantages of both systems. Here, we introduce a layered sandwich-type architecture, the core of which comprise ...

We report seven heteroleptic cationic iridium(III) complexes with cyclometalating N-arylazoles and alkyl/aryl isocyanides, ((CN)-N-boolean AND)(2)Ir(CNR)(2), and characterize two of them by crystal structure analysis. The complexes are air- and m ...

The present invention concerns a perovskite solar cell provided with a polymer-porous template composite material for absorbing toxic metal ions. Preferably, the porous template material is a metal oxide framework (MOF) material. An example of a preferred ...

We report a combined experimental and computational investigation to understand the nature of the interactions between cobalt redox mediators and TiO2 surfaces sensitized by :ruthenium and organic dyes, and their impact on. the performance of the correspon ...

Molecular tailoring of self-assembled hole-transporting monolayers (SAMs) has been proven as an efficient approach for improving the device performance of inverted perovskite solar cells. Herein, a novel SAM with extended conjugation is designed and synthesized, named NaPh-4PACz. Compared to Ph-4PACz, NaPh-4PACz exhibits a larger adsorption energy with the ITO substrate, enabling the formation of a more uniform and dense film, thereby preventing direct contact between the perovskite and ITO. Additionally, N

Neuromorphic computing requires electronic systems that can perform massively parallel computational tasks with low energy consumption. Such systems have traditionally been based on complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor circuits, but further advances in ...

Perovskite solar cells are one of the most promising photovoltaic technologies with their extraordinary progress in efficiency and the simple processes required to produce them. However, the frequent presence of a pronounced hysteresis in the current volta ...

The power conversion efficiency of a dye-sensitized solar cell with tailored squaraine dye enhanced by 47%, due to Forster resonance energy transfer from CdSe quantum dots to the squaraine dye. The incident photons to collection efficiency of electrons ind ...

The iodide/triiodide redox shuttle has limited the efficiencies accessible in dye-sensitized solar cells. Here, we report mesoscopic solar cells that incorporate a Co((II/III))tris(bipyridyl)-based redox electrolyte in conjunction with a custom synthesized ...
