Liquid fuel production from biomass-derived molecules has received great attention due to the diminished fossil fuel reserves, growing energy demand, and the necessity of CO2 emission reduction. The deoxygenation of oils and fatty acids is a promising proc ...

The decomposition of trichloroethylene ITCE) by non-thermal plasma was investigated in a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) reactor with a copper rod inner electrode and compared with a plasma-catalytic reactor. The particularity of the plasma-catalytic re ...

Systematic studies of mass transfer interactions with intrinsic reaction kinetics were performed for the threephase selective hydrogenation of 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol (MBY) to 2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol (MBE) over a modified Pd/CaC

This work is addressing the selective hydrogenation of alkynols over hybrid catalysts containing Pd-nanoparticles, within newly synthesized hyper-cross-linked polystyrenes (HPS). Alkynols containing C-5, C-10, and C-20 with a terminal triple bond, which ar ...

Monodispersed Pd nanoparticles (NPs) have been prepared by colloidal technique and deposited on a structured support consisting of carbon nanofibers (CNF) grown on sintered metal fibres (SMF). The surface properties of Pd NPs have been fine-tuned by (i) ch ...

The alloys of Zn0.34Cd0.66S QDs show a high photocatalytic activity when mediating the hydrogen production from water with a reaction rate of 233 +/- 9 mu mol h(-1) g(-1). The reaction is carried out in the presence of ascorbic acid as sacrificial electron ...

An anisotropic structured fixed-bed divided into 2 reactor parts is a bundle reactor consisting of fiber-bundle. The fiber-bundle ordered in the flow direction are formed from filaments; the diam. of the fiber-bundle is smaller than its length and bigger than its interspace diam. A catalyst is deposited on the fiber-bundle. The reactor is esp. suitable for catalytic dehydrogenation of propane to propene with oxygen. [on SciFinder (R)]

Mixing is an essential part of chemical processes. In the present work, homogeneous mixing at relatively high throughput for a single microchannel (of 1-18 mL/min) was investigated in microchannels with different dimensions, cross sections and mixing eleme ...

In this work, Fe/Ru-catalyst supported on hyper-crosslinked polystyrene (HPS) synthesized via hydrothermal deposition was proposed for the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) to obtain a high yield of gasoline-ranged hydrocarbons. According to the characteriza ...

Polyvinylpyrrolidone stabilized rhodium nanoparticles are highly sol. in hydroxyl-functionalized ionic liqs., providing an effective and highly stable catalytic system. In hydrogenation reactions, excellent results were obtained, and transmission electron ...

The use of filamentous catalysts for innovative design of chemical reactors with structured catalytic beds is discussed in detail. The fluid dynamics attained in such reactors avoid transport limitations (mixing or heat- and mass-transfer) and increase reactor performance/safety.

A reactor concept designed as a bubble column staged with fibrous catalytic layers is tested on pilot-scale for the redn. of nitrite to N by H. CO2 is used to neutralize the hydroxide ions produced during hydrogenation of nitrite. The effective reaction rate was found to depend on the superficial gas velocity ug0. The fibrous catalysts demonstrated a high selectivity towards nitrogen. The influence of the mass transport on the effective kinetics is discussed and the volumetric liq.-solid mass transfer coeff

In this publication, several stainless steel microstructure reactors specially designed to obtain rapid and periodic temperature changes are presented. Different microstructure reactor designs have been manufactured and tested for their thermal behaviour a ...

Interaction of N2O at low temps. (473-603 K) with Fe-ZSM-5 zeolites (Fe, 0.01-2.1 wt%) activated by steaming and/or thermal treatment in He at 1323 K was studied by the transient response method and temp.-programmed desorption (TPD). Diffuse reflectance IR ...

Structured hierarchical catalysts were developed for efficient reduction of bromates in water. In the catalysts a small amount of active metal, 0.3 wt.% Pd, is supported onto carbon nanofibres grown either on sintered metal fibres or on a carbon cloth. In both cases high rates of reaction and high selectivity were achieved, allowing a significant reduction in the amount of catalyst required for the treatment of a set volumetric flow of polluted water, compared to a conventional Pd/Al2O3 catalyst. Manufactur

Pure and K-doped vanadia/titania catalysts have been studied by transient response method and in situ DRIFTS during toluene partial oxidn. They were characterized by FT-Raman spectroscopy, TPR, TPD of pyridine and XPS. In order to elucidate the role of different vanadia species for catalysis, the study was carried out in aerobic and anaerobic conditions. Monolayer species (monomeric and polymeric) are responsible for the catalytic activity and selectivity. Bulk V2O5 present in the catalysts with high concn.

A novel “sandwich” microreactor designed as a thin (∼ 300

The oscillatory behavior during CO oxidn. over Pd supported on glass fibers was studied in a recycle reactor. The properties of oscillations as a function of temp. and inlet CO concn. were investigated in detail. The peculiarity of the obsd. oscillations is their long period up to 6 h. Math. model considering oxidn.-redn. processes of the Pd was developed to describe the exptl. results. The model accounts for the obsd. reaction rate dependence on the CO inlet concn., the region of oscillations and the depen

An efficient adsorbent for butadiene was synthesized via soft hydrothermal treatment (2 h in boiling water followed by 1 h calcination at 573 K) of industrial Na-X. The adsorption capacity of the zeolite was studied in the low concentration range (20–300 p ...

Parahydrogen-induced polarization was observed in the gas phase heterogeneous hydrogenation of propyne catalyzed by Pd-0 nanoparticles embedded in an ionic liquid phase supported on activated carbon fibers (Pd-0/SILP/ACF). The results were markedly different from those obtained with a reference catalyst, Pd-0/ACF, demonstrating the important role of the ionic liquid.
