Dye-sensitized solar cells employing mesoporous TiO2 beads have demonstrated longer electron diffusion lengths and extended electron lifetimes over Degussa P25 titania electrodes due to the well interconnected, densely packed nanocrystalline TiO2 particles ...

Electron transfers (ET) between a donor (D) and an acceptor (A) through a molecular bridge (B) are of great importance in biological systems, molecular electronics and molecular based light-energy conversion systems. Here, the back and the forward electron ...

We computationally investigate organometal CH3NH3PbX3 and mixed halide CH3NH3PbI2X perovskites (X = Cl, Br, I), which are key materials for high efficiency solid-state solar cells. CH3NH3PbX3 perovskites exhibited the expected absorption blue shift along t ...

Mesoscopic injection solar cells operate in an entirely different fashion than conventional solar p‐n junction devices. Mimicking the principles that natural photosynthesis has used successfully over the last 3·5 billion years in solar energy conversion, t ...

We present a facile molecular-level interface engineering strategy to augment the long-term operational and thermal stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) by tailoring the interface between the perovskite and hole transporting layer (HTL) with a multif ...

In the recent years, the heterojunction solar cells based on quantum dots (QDs) have attracted attention due to strong light absorbing characteristics and the size effect on the bandgap tuning. This paper reports on the kinetics of interfacial charge separ ...

Gathering information on the atomic nature of reactive sites and trap states is key to fine tuning catalysis and suppressing deleterious surface voltage losses in photoelectrochemical technologies. Here, spectroelectrochemical and computational methods wer ...

The energy transition from the ground state to the first excited singlet of four organic dye candidates to be used as sensitizers in solar cells, D5, D7, D9, and D11, has been computationally explored and compared to experimental results with TDDFT (B3LYP, ...

A tailored optimization of perovskite solar cells requires a detailed understanding of the processes limiting the device efficiency. Here, we study the role of the hole transport layer (HTL) spiro-MeOTAD and its thickness in a mesoscopic TiO2-based solar c ...

The performance enhancement of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) in lithium-free and lithium-containing electrolytes under visible light-soaking was examined by impedance spectroscopy and photovoltage transient decay measurements. The improvement was found ...

Most photovoltaic (PV) technologies are opaque to maximize visible light absorption. However, see-through solar cells open additional perspectives for PV integration. Looking beyond maximizing visible light harvesting, this work considers the human eye pho ...

The optimization of mediator/cathode in a dye sensitized solar cell (DSC) requires detailed knowledge about their electrochemical properties. Particularly, the kinetics of mediator's turnover on the cathode and the mass transport of mediator in the electro ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have gained tremendous attention owing to their promising photovoltaic performance, surpassing all the alternative technologies based on solution-processed materials. PSCs displaying record efficiencies contain hole transporti ...

The formation of H-aggregates as a function of solution, substrate and ambient variables is considered for the merocyanine dye 3-acetyl-5-12-(3-ethyl-2-benzothiazolydene) rhodanine. Colloidal semiconductor particles are shown to be a powerful tool to control the size of the aggregates. In water the blue shifted absorption band has been assigned to a dimer. Its spectrum has been isolated and the thermodynamical variables derived for the dissociation reaction are: ΔrG0=21.16 kJ/mol, ΔrH0=32.36 kJ/mol and ΔrS0

Tremendous efforts have been dedicated toward minimizing the open-circuit voltage deficits on perovskite solar cells (PSCs), and the fill factors are still relatively low. This hinders their further application in large scalable modules. Herein, we employ ...

LiMnPO4 (olivine) was surface-modified by two different complexes: Ru-bis(4,4'-diethoxycarbonyl-2,2'-bipyridine)(4,4'-dicarboxylate-2,2'-bipyridine) and Ru-bis(4-carboxylic acid-4'-carboxylate-2,2'-bipyridine)(4,4'-dinonyl-2,2'bipyridine). These complexes ...

A two-dimensional hybrid coordination polymer Pb(CH3NH2)I-2 featuring a well-defined layered structure is reported for scalable perovskite ink and deposition. This coordination polymer exhibits structural, spectroscopic, and physicochemical properties ...

Long-term durability is critically important for the commercialization of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The ionic character of the perovskite and the hydrophilicity of commonly used additives for the hole-transporting layer (HTL), such as lithium bis(trif ...

The slow process in which the light absorbing dye molecules are adsorbed from solution on the nano-crystalline TiO2 photoelectrode film has been a handicap to the fast and cost-effective fabrication of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) using printing tech ...

Porphyrins have drawn much attention as sensitizers owing to the large absorption coefficients of their Soret and Q bands in the visible region. In a donor and acceptor zinc porphyrin we applied a new strategy of introducing 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole (BTD) as ...
