Despite rapid improvements in efficiency, long-term stability remains a challenge limiting the future up-scaling of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Although several approaches have been developed to improve the stability of PSCs, applying ammonium passivati ...

Accurately predicting the power conversion efficiency (PCE) in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) represents a crucial challenge, one that is pivotal for the high throughput rational design and screening of promising dye sensitizers. This study presents pr ...

In this study, we report the effects of co-catalysts of Pt nanoparticles and Fe3O4 clusters on photocatalytic behaviors of g-C3N4 (CN) and the use of the resulting photocatalyst for CO2 photoreduction to solar fuels in a flow reactor operated at room-tempe ...

This paper is concerned with reaction systems in which fuel production is achieved by illumination of aqueous solutions. Research interest in this field focuses on the photoredox reaction A + D [graphic omitted] A–+ D+ in which A and D are solutes of which one is excited by light. Major problems to overcome for practical use of these systems are the retardation of the back reaction and the production of fuel from the intermediates A– and D+. Micellar aggregates may be employed for the kinetic control of for

Organic semiconductors (OSs) are emerging candidates as light-harvesting materials in photoelectrochemical (PEC) cells for direct solar-to-chemical conversion. Despite significant recent progress with OS-based photocathodes, the development of efficient an ...

We re-assess experimental soft X-ray absorption spectra of the oxygen K-shell which we recorded operando from iron oxide during photoelectrochemical water splitting in KOH electrolyte. In particular, we refer to recently reported transitional electron hole ...

Hematite is a promising material for solar energy conversion via photo-electrochemical water splitting. However, the precise control of substitutional doping and nanometer feature size is important for high photon harvesting efficiency. Doped and nanostructured hematite electrodes can be prepared by a simple solution-based colloidal approach however, a high temperature (800 degrees C) annealing is required to activate the dopant atoms. This high temperature annealing step also increases the particle size ab

We report two new heteroleptic polypyridyl ruthenium complexes, coded C101 and C102, with high molar extinction coefficients by extending the pi-conjugation of spectator ligands, with a motivation to enhance the optical absorptivity of mesoporous titania f ...

Metal halide perovskite quantum dots (Pe-QDs) are of great interest in new-generation photovoltaics (PVs). However, it remains challenging in the construction of conductive and intact Pe-QD films to maximize their functionality. Herein, a ligand-assisted s ...

Complex of general formula I in which R1, R2 and R3, which may be identical or different, represent separately a linear or branched alkyl radical of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, or, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, a heterocyclic ...

Among the several approaches for harnessing solar energy and converting it into electricity, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) represent one of the most promising methods for future large-scale power production from renewable energy sources. In these cells ...

The organic cations in hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites rotate rapidly inside the cuboctahedral cavities formed by the inorganic lattice, influencing optoelectronic properties. Here, we provide a complete quantitative picture of cation dynamics for for ...

This paper reports a new D-A-pi-A organic dye WS-9, which is derived from the known dye WS-2 by incorporating an n-hexylthiophene unit into the pi-conjugation. Due to the presence of a strong electron-withdrawing benzothiadiazole unit in the pi-bridge, the ...

Hematite (alpha-Fe2O3) is the most studied artificial oxygen-evolving photo-anode and yet its efficiency limitations and their origin remain unknown. A sub-picosecond reorganisation of the hematite structure has been proposed as the mechanism which dictate ...

This study pinpoints the advantages of ultrathin electron 15 selective layers (ESL) of SnO2 fabricated by atomic layer deposition (ALD). These layers recently caught attention in planar perovskite solar cells and appear as powerful alternatives to other ox ...

Overcoming ionic diffusion limitations is essential for the development of high-efficiency dye-sensitized solar cells based on cobalt redox mediators. Here, improved mass transport is reported for photoanodes composed of mesoporous TiO2 beads of varying po ...

• The Mn-electrochemistry in WiSE is free from the issue of “dead MnO₂” • Au rapidly oxidizes in WiSE to AuCl₄⁻, the dissolution rate is ca. twice that of Zn • The electrochemistry of AuCl 4 - closely parallels that of Mn 2+ in WiSE • The areal capacity of ∼1 mAh/cm 2 is achieved in tens of cycles • Oxidation of Mn 2+ yields reversibly cyclable γ-MnO 2 as the main product Redox mediators in water-in-salt electrolytes (WiSE) offer a compelling platform for durable, safe, and efficient Zn-ion battery. Here we

Colloidal cadmium selenide (CdSe) quantum dots QDs) have been prepared and exploited as inorganic dyes to sensitize a large-band-gap TiO2 layer for QD-sensitized solar cells. The optimized QD-sensitized solar cells exhibited an unprecedented incident photo ...

Developing efficient, stable, and cost-effective photosystems to split water into hydrogen and oxygen using sunlight is of paramount importance for future production of fuels and chemicals from renewable sources. However, the high cost of current systems l ...

To improve their efficiency beyond the state-of-the-art, D-pi-A dyes must display increased spectral breadth and account for the physical limitations observed in the dye. sensitized solar cells. In particular, they should be designed to control the electro ...
