Herein, we describe the synthesis of a hole transporting material based on a partially planarised quart-p-phenylene core incorporating tetraketal and diphenylamine substituents that show optimal energy levels and solubility for perovskite solar cell applic ...

Formamidinium lead iodide perovskites are promising light-harvesting materials, yet stabilizing them under operating conditions without compromising optimal optoelectronic properties remains challenging. We report a multimodal host–guest complexation strat ...

Through examination of the optoelectronic and photoelectrochemical properties of BiVO4 and Cu2O photoelectrodes, we evaluate the feasibility of a BiVO4/Cu2O photoanode/photocathode tandem cell for overall unassisted solar water splitting. Using state-of-th ...

A review of sensitization of TiO2 by supramols. contg. zinc porphyrins and ruthenium-polypyridyl complexes in solar cells. Conversion of sunlight to elec. power is being examd. through the use of new-generation photovoltaic cells. For such devices, anchored ruthenium polypyridyl complexes with suitable substituents on meso-porous TiO2 have been tested and are a cost-effective alternative to conventional solid-state devices. Photoinduced charge-carrier generation at the heterojunction has become very efficie

Dye-sensitized solar cells with carboxylate-derivatized {(CuL2)-L-1} complexes are surprisingly efficient and offer a long-term alternative approach to ruthenium-functionalized systems. ...

The small-molecule-based hole-transporting material methoxydiphenylamine-substituted carbazole was synthesized and incorporated into a CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite solar cell, which displayed a power conversion efficiency of 16.91%, the second highest conversion ...

High photovoltage in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) can be achieved by designing new hole transporting materials (HTMs) with relatively deeper energy levels of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO). Here, we report on the synthesis of a new heteroac ...

The use of layered perovskites is an important strategy to improve the stability of hybrid perovskite materials and their optoelectronic devices. However, tailoring their properties requires accurate structure determination at the atomic scale, which is a ...

An unsymmetrical, push-pull porphyrazine derivative bearing an isoindole-4-carboxylic acid moiety (TT112) is synthesized and incorporated in a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). The device, which constitutes the first example of a porphyrazine-sensitized so ...

We report on the synthesis, and photovoltaic performances of four novel Ru(II)-bipyridine heteroteptic complexes TT206-209, incorporating branched and bulkier alkyl chains compared to their linear analogues C106 and CYC-B11 previously reported. In both ser ...

A fullerene derivative (alpha-bis-PCBM) is purified from an as-produced bis-phenyl-C-61-butyric acid methyl ester (bis-[60]PCBM) isomer mixture by preparative peak-recycling, high-performance liquid chromatography, and is employed as a templating agent for ...

The present work demonstrates that tuning the donor density of protective TiO2 layers on a photocathode has dramatic consequences for electronic conduction through TiO2 with implications for the stabilization of oxidation-sensitive catalysts on the surface ...

Mixed ionic–electronic conductivity of metal halide perovskites is a critical factor determining their application in optoelectronics, as well as the emerging field of optoionics. In particular, ionic migration in response to voltage bias and light contributes to the operational instability of halide perovskite materials and devices. A promising strategy to control ion migration is dimensional reduction, achieved by incorporating bulky organic cations between inorganic slabs to form two‐dimensional or layer

A high power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 5.5% was achieved by efficiently incorporating a diketopyrrolopyrrole-based dye with a conducting polymer poly(3,4-ethylenediothiophene) (PEDOT) hole-transporting material (HTM) that was formed in situ, compared ...

A process for increasing the fastness to light, the fluorescence polarisation and fluorescence quantum yield of cyanine dyes, which process comprises stabilising cyanine dyes with the aid of micellar structures of a) surfactants and/or b) surfactant crown ether complexes of monovalent of divalent transition metal cations, or c) mixtures of surfactants, in each case in combination with non-surfactant, nitrogen-containing or nitrogen- and oxygen-containing 16- to 18-membered crown ether complexes of monova

A low-cost spiro[fluorene-9,9'-xanthene] (SFX) based organic hole transport material (HTM) termed X60 was designed and synthesized using a two-step synthetic route. Devices with X60 as HTM showed high power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) amounting to 7.30% ...

After rapid progress over the past five years, organic-inorganic perovskite solar cells (PSCs) currently exhibit photoconversion efficiencies comparable to the best commercially available photovoltaic technologies. However, instabilities in the materials a ...

A photovoltaic cell comprising an electrolyte which comprises a hole conductor compound as redox system.

Photoelectrochemical reduction of CO2 to CO was driven by a TiO2-protected Cu2O photocathode paired with a rhenium bipyridyl catalyst. Efficient and selective CO evolution was shown to be stable over several hours. The use of protic solution additives to o ...
