Metal halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have made substantial progress in power conversion efficiency (PCE) and stability in the past decade thanks to the advancements in perovskite deposition methodology, charge transport layer (CTL) optimization, and ...

We report for the first time on a hole conductor-free mesoscopic methylammonium lead iodide (CH3NH3PbI3) perovskite/TiO2 heterojunction solar cell, produced by deposition of perovskite nanoparticles from a solution of CH3NH3I and PbI2 in gamma-butyrolactone on a 400 nm, thick film of TiO2 (anatase) nanosheets exposing (001) facets. A gold film was evaporated on top of the CH3NH3PbI3 as a back contact. Importantly, the CH3NH3PbI3 nanoparticles assume here simultaneously the roles of both light harvester and

The use of porphyrin-based photosensitizers with superior light-harvesting properties has enabled the power conversion efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) to reach 13% under full sun illumination. However, a major limitation of such devices cor ...

According to the concepts of attribute axis and attribute coordinate system, porphine and 11 kinds of bridge carbon substituted porphyrins as donors and 9 common acceptors A-I have been designed and calculated at the density functional B3LYP level. The sub ...

The achievement of high efficiency and high stability in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) requires optimal selection and evaluation of the various components. After a brief introduction to the perovskite materials and their historical evolution, the first par ...

Two new metal-free organic sensitizers, L156 and L224, were designed, synthesized, and characterized for application in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). The structures of the dyes contain a triphenylamine (TPA) segment and 4-(benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazol-4- ...

Low temperature processing of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC) is crucial to enable commercialization with low-cost, plastic substrates. Prior studies have focused on mechanical compression of premade particles on plastic or glass substrates, however, this ...

CuSCN thin films (optimized previously for perovskite photovoltaics) are deposited on glass, F:SnO2 (FTO), Au, glass-like carbon (GC), and reduced graphene oxide (rGO). They exhibit capacitive charging in an electrochemical window from ca. -0.3 to 0.2 V vs ...

The present invention relates to modified surfaces. The surfaces comprise an inorganic material on which a phosphinic acid derivative is adsorbed. The phosphinic acid thus turns out to be a new anchoring group useful for surface derivatisation. The inventi ...

Energy research is to a large extent materials research, encompassing the physics and chemistry of materials, including their synthesis, processing toward components and design toward architectures, allowing for their functionality as energy devices, exten ...

TiO2(B) mesoporous thin films were grown in two steps on the F-doped SnO2 conductive glass substrates. In the first step, a small amount of H3PO4, corresponding to 0.15-0.375 wt % P on TiO2 basis, was introduced into concentrated HCl which was subsequently ...

A process and device are disclosed for purifying liquids, in particular water, contaminated with inorganic and/or organic impurities. The impurities are transformed and/or precipitated through the use of the catalytic and photocatalytic properties of semiconductors, if necessary with the addition of an oxidizer. For that purpose, a semiconductor in the form of at least one semiconductor layer, for example a porous layer, is applied on an equally porous substrate (17), in order to form a filter capable of be

The methodology adopted for the preparation of perovskites plays a critical role in achieving high efficiency. Toward this direction, various strategies have been adopted to achieve a rational control over the growth of the perovskite layer for the fabrica ...

Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites have become one of the leading thin-film semiconductors for optoelectronics. Their broad application will greatly depend on overcoming the key obstacles associated with poor stability and limited scalability. There has ...

Reversible chemical delithiation/lithiation of LiFePO4 was successfully demonstrated using ferrocene derivatives, based on which a novel energy storage system - the redox flow lithium-ion battery (RFLB), was devised by integrating the operation flexibility ...

A polymerized ionic liquid electrolyte and platinum-free counter electrode are employed for solid-state DSSCs. We are able to prepare a thin polymer electrolyte layer on nanocrystalline TiO2 in order to reduce the cell resistance. In addition, an electron ...

Perovskite solar cells are a promising new technology for large scale energy applications. The current major challenge for commercialization is increasing the device lifetime under real working conditions. State-of-the-art perovskite solar cells are prepar ...

Ionic liquids can retard the perovskite crystallization with the aim to form compact films with larger and more uniformly distributed grain size. The ionic liquid driven crystallization is exploited to prepared a record planar perovskite solar cell with st ...

We use the optical transfer-matrix method to quantify the spatial distribution of light in solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs), employing material optical properties measured experimentally in the accompanying article (Part I) as input into the o ...
