A clean and efficient way to overcome the limited supply of fossil fuels and the greenhouse effect is the production of hydrogen fuel from sunlight and water through the semiconductor/water junction of a photoelectrochemical cell, where energy collection a ...

The abundant pigment-protein membrane complex photosystem-I (PS-I) is at the heart of the Earth's energy cycle. It is the central molecule in the "Z-scheme'' of photosynthesis, converting sunlight into the chemical energy of life. Commandeering this intric ...

Two donor-π-acceptor (D-π-A) dyes are synthesized for application in dye- sensitized solar cells (DSSC). These D-π-A sensitizers use triphenylamine as donor, oligothiophene as both donor and π-bridge, and benzothiadiazole (BTDA)/cyanoacrylic acid as accept ...

Developing efficient systems for the conversion of carbon dioxide to valuable chemicals using solar power is critical for mitigating climate change and ascertaining the worlds future supply of clean fuels. Here, we introduce a mesoscopic cathode consisting ...

Following pioneering work(1), solution-processable organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites-such as CH3NH3PbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I)-have attracted attention as light-harvesting materials for mesoscopic solar cells(2-15). So far, the perovskite pigment has been depo ...

A series of new pyrido[3,4-b]pyrazine-based organic sensitizers (PP-I and APP-I–IV) containing different donors and p-spacers have been synthesized and employed in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The absorption spectra properties of dyes are analysed b ...

Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites exhibit outstanding performances in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, the complex solution chemistry of perovskites precursors renders it difficult to prepare large-area devices in a reproducible way, which is a p ...

Herein, a newly developed non-noble metal water splitting catalyst based on NiCuCoS3 was reported. Water splitting catalysts are largely developed with noble-based transition metals to lower the energy requirement for the overall water splitting reactions. ...

Here, we demonstrate the incorporation of monovalent cation additives into CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite in order to adjust the optical, excitonic, and electrical properties. The possibility of doping was investigated by adding monovalent cation halides with simil ...

Clean energy is highly needed at this time when the energy requirements are rapidly increasing. The observed increasing energy requirement are largely due to continued industrialization and global population explosion. The current means of energy source is ...

Surface passivation has been widely employed to suppress non-radiative charge recombination and prevent interfacial charge accumulation in perovskite photovoltaics. In this report, carbazole modified with ammonium iodide connected via alkyl chains of diffe ...

CsPbBr3 perovskite is highly desired to fabricate many optoelectronic devices: high photovoltage solar cells, tandem solar cells, light-emitting diodes, lasers, photodetectors, field effect transistors etc. However, to realize these applications, resistanc ...

Lead halide perovskites are promising semiconducting materials for solar energy harvesting. However, the presence of heavy-metal lead ions is problematic when considering potential harmful leakage into the environment from broken cells and also from a publ ...

Herein we report a series of charged iridium complexes emitting from near-UV to red using carbene-based (NC)-C-boolean AND: ancillary ligands. Synthesis, photophysical and electrochemical properties of this series are described in detail together with X-ra ...

New charged cyclometalated iridium(III) complexes Ir(ppy)2(L) [ppy = 2-phenylpyridine; L = bis(pyrazol-1-yl)methane (for 1); L = bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)methane (for 2)] were synthesized and their electrochemical and photophysical properties st ...

A comprehensive picture explaining the effect of the crystal size in metal halide perovskite films on their opto-electronic characteristics is currently lacking. We report that perovskite nanocrystallites exhibit a wider band gap due to concurrent quantum ...

CH3NH3PbX3 (MAPbX(3)) perovskites have attracted considerable attention as absorber materials for solar light harvesting, reaching solar to power conversion efficiencies above 20%. In spite of the rapid evolution of the efficiencies, the understanding of b ...

Carbonyl-containing materials employed in state-of-the-art hybrid lead halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) exhibit a strong structure-dependent electron donor effect that predominates in defect passivation. However, the impact of the molecular spatial con ...

Photogenerated charge carrier dynamics are investigated as a function of applied bias in a variety of different hematite photoanodes for solar water oxidation. Transient absorption spectroscopy is used to probe the photogenerated holes, while transient pho ...

Perovskite solar cells have achieved comparable power conversion efficiencies as commercial silicon cells, making the issue of long-term operation stability as the most critical scientific factor toward industrial realization. In this work, we introduce Sn ...
