With close to 100% internal quantum efficiency over the absorption spectrum, photocurrents in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are at their practical limits. It is therefore imperative to improve open-circuit voltages (VOC) in order to go beyond the current 1 ...

Understanding the relationship between the growth and local emission of hybrid perovskite structures and the performance of the devices based on them demands attention. This study investigates the local structural and emission features of CH3NH3PbI3, CH3NH ...

Commercial graphene nanoplatelets in the form of optically transparent thin films on F-doped SnO2 (FTO) exhibited high electrocatalytic activity toward I-3(-)/I- redox couple, particularly in electrolyte based on, ionic liquid (Z952). The charge-transfer r ...

A deep understanding of how solution-processed solar cells (SSCs) perform under varying temperatures and irradiance is crucial for their optimal design, synthesis, and use. However, current partial spectral characterization, primarily below the band gap wa ...

A novel class of Ru(II) sensitizers (TFRS-51-TFRS-54) with a 4,40'-dicarboxy-2,2'-bipyridine anchoring ligand and two trans-oriented isoquinolinyl (or quinolinyl) pyrazolate ancillaries were designed, characterized and used to fabricate dye sensitized sola ...

The solar to electrical power conversion efficiency for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) incorporating a solid-state organic hole-transporter can be over 5%. However, this is for devices significantly thinner than the optical depth of the active composite ...

Two new alkylpyrrolidiniumtriethoxysilyl iodides have been developed as iodide sources for DSSCs; the compound with an undecyl spacer between the siloxane and the pyrrolidinium moieties furnished higher open circuit voltages than the propyl analogue and hi ...

Ultralight photovoltaics are indispensable wherever every gram counts, from self-powered Internet of Things nodes to free-hanging greenhouse covers. In dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) the required 450−500 °C sintering of the mesoporous TiO 2 (m-TiO 2) photoanode has so far limited the use of polymer substrates. Here, we replace the furnace step with flash infrared annealing. Near-IR radiation heats the 3.5 μm m-TiO 2 layer to 550 ± 20 °C while keeping a 12.5 μm indium-tin-oxide/polyimide foil below 170 °C

Emission characteristics of metal halide perovskites play a key role in the current widespread investigations into their potential uses in optoelectronics and photonics. However, a fundamental understanding of the molecular origin of the unusual blueshift ...

Electron recombination is one of the major loss factors in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC), especially, with single electron outer sphere redox shuttle electrolyte. Insulating sub-nanometer oxide tunneling layers deposited by atomic layer deposition (ALD) ...

Despite the impressive photovoltaic performances with power conversion efficiency beyond 22%, perovskite solar cells are poorly stable under operation, failing by far the market requirements. Various technological approaches have been proposed to overcome ...

The carbon-free LiFePO4 (olivine) was modified by a monolayer coverage with [12-(2,5-di-tert-butyl-4-methoxy-phenoxy)-dodecyl]-phosphonic acid, coded DW. Thin film electrodes were bonded with 5% PVDF and deposited on F-doped SnO2 (FTO) support. The surface ...

Replacing the nonyl groups on the solar cell dye Ru(4,4'-carboxylic acid-2,2'-bipyridine)-( 4,4'-dinonyl-2,2'-bipyridine)(NCS)(2) (Z-907) with amino groups results in a marked decrease in solar cell performance. This is despite the fact that the amino deri ...

Artificial photosynthesis system to realize Solar overall water splitting has been regarded as sustainable and renewable solution for energy and environmental issues. While artificial photosynthesis system (efficiency of 12.4%) greatly exceeds efficiency o ...

Phase-pure tantalum oxynitride (beta-TaON) powders were synthesized by thermal ammonolysis of Ta2O5 powders. X-ray diffraction revealed an enlargement of the unit cell and an increase of the crystallite size with increasing ammonolysis temperature. Scannin ...

The 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) pi-bridge is one of the most commonly used building blocks for sensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). We investigated its influence on the molecular structure, the photophysical and electrochemical properti ...

Stabilizing high-efficiency perovskite solar cells (PSCs) at operating conditions remains an unresolved issue hampering its large-scale commercial deployment. Here, we report a star-shaped polymer to improve charge transport and inhibit ion migration at th ...

The concept of a tandem hybrid concentrator solar module was demonstrated from a dye-sensitized TiO2 solar cell (DSSCs) and a silicon p-n junction solar cell. The test system employed DSSC and Si cells with indoor AM1.5G efficiencies of 9.1 and 18.1%, resp ...

The instability of rear electrodes undermines the long-term operational durability of efficient perovskite solar cells. Here, a composite electrode of copper-nickel (Cu-Ni) alloy stabilized by in situ grown bifacial graphene is designed. The alloying makes ...

The tunable bandgaps and facile fabrication of perovskites make them attractive for multi-junction photovoltaics(1,2). However, light-induced phase segregation limits their efficiency and stability(3-5): this occurs in wide-bandgap (>1.65 electron volts) i ...
