In this paper, spatially resolved photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy with various excitation wavelengths is presented as a nondestructive and versatile technique providing access to the individual subcells of multijunction solar cells. This method is demo ...

This paper presents an overview of the research carried out by a European consortium with the aim to develop and test new and improved ways to realise dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC) with enhanced efficiencies and stabilities. Several new areas have been ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) use perovskites with an APbX(3) structure, where A is a monovalent cation and X is a halide such as Cl, Br, and/or I. Currently, the cations for high-efficiency PSCs are Rb, Cs, methylammonium (MA), and/or formamidinium (FA). ...

Redox-mediated reactions enable charge transfer processes beyond conventional heterogeneous electrode interfaces and have emerged as versatile strategies in energy storage and conversion systems. However, the interfacial electron transfer mechanisms governing these reactions remain elusive. Here, ferrocene derivatives are employed as redox mediators to investigate interfacial electron transfer using the FePO4/LiFePO4 intercalation reaction as a model system, enabling independent control of thermodynamic dri

Stabilized power output at maximum power point (mpp) has been considered as one of the most reliable parameters as it provides a key performance indicator for perovskite solar cells (PSCs) revealing the operational stability of the photovoltaic device. Her ...

Halide perovskites possess enormous potential for various optoelectronic applications. Presently, a clear understanding of the interplay between the lattice and electronic effects is still elusive. Specifically, the weakly absorbing tail states and dual em ...

A new Ru(II) dye, Ru(L1)(L2) (NCS)(2), L1 = (4-(5-hexylthiophen-2-yl)-4'(4-carboxyl-phenyl 2,2'-bipyridine) and L2 = (4-4'-dicarboxy-2,2'- bipyridine), labelled MC112, based on a dissymmetric bipyridine ligand for improved interfacial and optical propertie ...

A series of two-dimensionally expanded azulenecore- based pi systems have been synthesized with different alkyl chain lengths in the alkoxy moieties connected to the partially oxygen-bridged triarylamine skeletons. The thermal, photophysical, and electroni ...

A series of coumarin dyes containing a low-band-gap chromophore of ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT), which comprises a coumarin moiety as the electron donor and a cyanoacrylic acid moiety as electron acceptor in D-pi-A chromophores, were developed for use in dye-sensitised solar cells (DSSCs). These coumarin dyes have been used to fabricate DSSCs using I-/I-3(-) liquid electrolytes and their device performances were compared with that of NKX-2677 as a standard dye. Even though HKK-CM2 and HKK-CM3 have more ext

Three new triethoxysilanes bearing quaternary ammonium alkyl iodides are reported, N,N,N-triethyl-3-(triethoxysilyl)propan-1-aminium iodide 1, N,N,N-triheptyl-3-(triethoxysilyl)propan-1-aminium iodide 2 and N,N,N-tridodecyl-3-(triethoxysilyl)propan-1-amini ...

Graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) in the form of thin semitransparent film on F-doped SnO2 (FTO) exhibit high electrocatalytic activity for Co(L)(2); where L is 6-(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-2,2'-bipyridine. The exchange current densities for the Co(2+/)3(+)(L)(2) redox ...

Strong scientific interests focus on the investigation of iodine-free redox couples for their application in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). Recently, a disulfide/thiolate-based redox electrolyte has been proposed as a valuable alternative to the conven ...

A new technique for forming porous thin layers of nano -colloidal titanium dioxide on electronically conducting glass was developed. This technique uses constant-current electrophoretic deposition from a dispersion of Degussa P-25 titanium dioxide in 2-methoxyethanol followed by air-drying and annealing. Dye-sensitized TiO2 photovoltaic cells constructed with these films gave current-voltage characteristics comparable with those of films produced by other techniques. A 30 cm2 prototype photovoltaic cell was

Mixed cation perovskites, [HC(NH2)2]xCs(1-x)PbI3, (FAxCs(1-x)PbI3) with x=0.8 achieve high solar cell power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) while exhibiting long-term stability under ambient conditions. In this work, we perform density functional theory (DF ...

The use of molecular modulators to reduce the defect density at the surface and grain boundaries of perovskite materials has been demonstrated to be an effective approach to enhance the photovoltaic performance and device stability of perovskite solar cell ...

There is an ongoing global effort to advance emerging perovskite solar cells (PSCs), and many of these endeavours are focused on developing new compositions, processing methods and passivation strategies. In particular, the use of passivators to reduce the ...

Hole transport materials (HTM) are an important component in perovskite solar cells (PSC). Despite a multitude of HTMs developed in recent years, only few of them lead to solar cells with efficiencies over 20%. Therefore, it is still a challenge to develop ...

Novel ionic liquid-sulfolane composite electrolytes based on the 1,2,3-triazolium family of ionic liquids were developed for dye-sensitized solar cells. The best performing device exhibited a short-circuit current density of 13.4 mA cm(-2), an open-circuit ...

Metal halide perovskites have thepotential to revolutionizethefield of photovoltaics, though limited stability has impeded commercialexploitation. The soft heterointerface between the perovskite andcharge-transporting layer is one of the major bottlenecks ...
