NOVELTY - The plate has electrically conductive substrate (1) that is covered with light sensitive matrix (2). The matrix comprises light absorber, charge carrier, probe molecule and photo-sensitizer (3) arranged to oxidize probe molecule by irradiation of ...

The redox properties of monolayer-protected gold nanoclusters (MPCs) are considered from both the theoretical and experimental viewpoints. The “absolute standard redox potential” ([ ]abs) of MPCs is first derived from electrostatic considerations. A linear ...

The development of a whole-cell based sensor for arsenite detection coupling biological engineering and electrochemical techniques is presented. This strategy takes advantage of the natural Escherichia coli resistance mechanism against toxic arsenic specie ...

Magnetic core shell nanoparticles (MCSNPs) 30 nm diameter with a magnetic weight of 10% are usually much too small to be trapped in microfluidic systems using classical external magnets. Here, a simple microchip for efficient MCSNPs trapping and release is ...

The generation of α-ferrocenyl carbocations from ferrocenyl alcohols for SN1 substitution at the water–organic solvent interface is initiated by the transfer of protons into the organic phase. The proton flux, and hence the reaction rate, can be controlled ...

This paper presents a fabrication of polymer microchips with homogeneous material technique due to surface treatment by plasma before sealing. UV laser photoablation was used for fast prototyping of microstructures, and oxygen plasma was used as a surface ...

In this work, the viability of polyaniline as a solid charge storage material in an aqueous redox-mediated flow battery is investigated. Fe(III/II) and V(IV/III) were identified as potential redox mediators to target the emeraldine-pernigraniline and leuco ...

An efficient strategy for visualizing human fingerprints on a poly(vinyldene difluoride) membrane (PVDF) by sanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) has been developed. Compared to a classical ink fingerprint image, here the ink is replaced by an aqueous ...

Hydrogen peroxide generation at a liquid|liquid interface occurs with a yield of 20 % with respect to the concentration of reducing agent (decamethylferrocene). The liquid|liquid interface supplies electrons from the reducing agent and protons from the aqu ...

This paper focuses on the description of the behavior of supercapacitors during over-temperature and over-voltage stresses and the consequent ageing processes. Specific physical evidences supporting the explanation of the experimental findings are provided ...

The reduction of palladium oxide nanoparticles in the presence of hydrogen peroxide or dissolved oxygen gives rise to a catalytic reduction current dependent on the hydrogen peroxide concentration or the oxygen concentration. Using terephthalic acid as an ...

This work investigates the effect of current density on the hydrogen gas bubble formation during electrolysis on a platinum electrode. Local detection of bubble evolution was performed electrochemically by using a hydrogen-collecting microelectrode placed ...

The objective of this study was to unravel the structural properties responsible for the partitioning of solutes in o‐nitrophenyl octyl ether (o‐NPOE)/H2O, a new solvent system for the determination of the partition coefficients of ions. A set of 88 compounds (including drugs) was selected to allow a regular and broad distribution of property spaces. Partition coefficients in o‐NPOE/H2O (log Pnpoe) were measured by the shake‐flask or the potentiometric method. Linear solvation free‐energy relationship (LSER

A rapid and accurate in-vitro drug metabolism strategy has been proposed based on the design of a biomimetic nanoreactor composed of amino-functionalized periodic mesoporous organosilica (NH2-PMO) and microsomes. The amphiphilic and positive charged NH2-PM ...

Scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) is one of the scanning probe techniques that has attracted considerable attention because of its ability to interrogate surface morphology or electrochemical reactivity. However, the quality of SECM images general ...

Soft or “liquid-liquid” interfaces were functionalized by half a monolayer of mirror-like nanofilms of gold nanoparticles using a precise interfacial microinjection method. The surface coverage of the nanofilm was characterized by ion transfer voltammetry. ...

In proteomic analysis of complex samples at the peptide level (termed shotgun proteomics), an effective prefractionation is crucial to decrease the complexity of the peptide mixture for further analysis. In this perspective, the high-resolving power of the ...

A numerical model for the adsorption kinetics of proteins on the walls of a microchannel has been developed using the finite element method (FEM) to address the coupling with diffusion phenomena in the restricted microchannel volume. Time evolutions of the ...

The incessant growth in energy demand has resulted in the deployment of renewable energy generators to reduce the impact of fossil fuel dependence. However, these generators often suffer from intermittency and require energy storage when there is over-gene ...

The electrochemically induced mass spectrometric tagging of cysteines by substituted hydroquinones was studied for peptides in a classical electrospray solvent (i.e., MeOH/H2O/AcOH 50/49/1). The tagging efficiency was tested with different hydroquinone com ...
