We demonstrate the cavity quantum electrodynamics towards strong- coupling regime mediated by cavity loss and exciton pure dephasing in singular site-controlled quantum dotnanocavity system, studied by micro-photoluminescence (mu-PL) and time- resolved PL ...

We present the static and optical injection response of wafer-fused long-wavelength VCSELs with and without intracavity patterning. It is found that the extra optical cavity patterning increases the gain anisotropy between orthogonal polarization modes, in ...

The diffusivity of photogenerated electron-hole pairs in weakly disordered GaAs/AlGaAs V-groove quantum wires was measured using a photoluminescence (PL) time-of-flight technique. It is shown that the electron-hole pair diffusion is thermally activated above about 50 K. Exciton localization is observed in micro-PL (mu PL) spectra at low temperature. A reduction in the Stokes shift is found to accompany the increase in the diffusion coefficient. Nevertheless, localization-related features in the mu PL spectr

We investigated experimentally 1D and 2D arrays of coupled L3 photonic crystal cavities. The optical modes of the coupled cavity arrays are fed by a site-controlled quantum wire light source. By performing photoluminescence measurements and relying on near ...

Mode control in wafer-fused 1.3 mu m wavelength coupled-VCSEL arrays is achieved by cavity structuring and investigated by spectrally resolved near- and far-field measurements. Improved mode discrimination is attained by combining index- and gain-patterning. (C)2010 Optical Society of America

Dense (10(10) cm(-2)) quantum dots (QDs) were grown in inverted pyramidal recesses by OMCVD. The high uniformity of the QD arrays is demonstrated by micro-photoluminescence spectra having linewidth as small as 6.5 meV and AFM measurements.

We investigated the composition and optical properties of GaInAsN/GaAs single quantum wells (QWs) grown on vicinal-(001) GaAs substrates using metallorganic vapor phase epitaxy with modulated nitrogen-precursor flux. A significant enhancement in N incorporation and photoluminescence efficiency is achieved with such optimized QW structures. Possible mechanisms of the observed increase in N uptake and reduction in defect density, related to the substrate vicinality, are discussed.

Coupling of L-type photonic-crystal (PhC) cavities in a geometry that follows inherent cavity field distribution is exploited for demonstrating large mode splitting of up to similar to 10-20 nm (similar to 15-30 meV) near 1 mu m wavelength. This is much la ...

We describe the fabrication, epitaxial growth and photoluminescence (PL) spectra of systems of site-controlled pyramidal quantum dots (QDs) integrated with photonic crystal (PhC) membrane cavities. The spectra of the individual QDs are characterized by sca ...

Polarization mode control is enhanced in wafer-fused verticalcavity surface-emitting lasers emitting at 1310 nm wavelength by etching two symmetrically arranged arcs above the gain structure within the laser cavity. The intracavity patterning introduces bi ...

We demonstrate several integrated photonics structures incorporating site-controlled quantum dots and photonic crystal cavities with tailored mode structures. Optimal designs for single photon extraction, routing and switching are presented and discussed. ...

We report on the observation of negatively and positively charged excitons in the photoluminescence spectra of V-groove quantum wires. The charged exciton binding energy increases with the strength of the quantum confinement. We demonstrate that the charged excitons are localized by the fluctuations of the confinement potential and estimate a minimal value of the localization length. (C) 2004 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA. Weinheim.

Control on the degree of valence band mixing is experimentally achieved in the particular GaAs/AlGaAs quantum Dot-in-Dot (DiD) structure. The effect is reflected by the tunable polarization of the emitted photons.

Deterministic integration of site-controlled InGaAs/GaAs quantum dots (QDs) with photonic crystal cavities is demonstrated. Fine adjustment of QD position (within similar to 10nm) and emission energy (few meV) allows construction of coupled QD systems. (C)2008 Optical Society of America

We demonstrate the controllable exciton-cavity mode interaction mediated by pure dephasing in a single site-controlled quantum dot-nanocavity system. With varying detuning, Purcell enhanced dynamics and phonon-assisted cavity feeding sequentially dominate ...
