Transmission through a (100)-oriented single crystal of bismuth ferrite (BiFeO3) was studied at frequencies of 0.485-0.765 THz with a continuous-wave source and in the temperature range of 30-350 K as a function of polarization angle. The fine splitting of ...

260-GHz radiation is used for a quasi-optical electron spin resonance (ESR) spectrometer which features both field and frequency modulation. Free space propagation is used to implement Martin-Puplett interferometry with quasi-optical isolation, mirror beam focusing, and electronic polarization control. Computer-aided design and polarization pathway simulation lead to the design of a compact interferometer, featuring lateral dimensions less than a foot and high mechanical stability, with all components rated

The magnetization dynamics of single Co/Cu/Co spin valves, embedded in electrodeposited nanowires of 30 nm avarage diameter, was observed using the spin-diode effect. The electrically-detected magnetic resonances were compared when using modulation of eith ...

Here we present the detection of ultralow concentrations of biomolecules in a device made from a polycarbonate membrane containing a network of gold nanowires and using a “contactless” impedance tomoscopy technique. The sensor comprises a thin dielectric l ...

A stereolithography-based manufacturing process for monolithic high aspect ratio components for mm-wave and sub-mm-wave applications is demonstrated. A 25mm long straight waveguide and a diagonal horn antenna, both for the WR-3.4 band (220–330 GHz), are manufactured and characterized. The waveguide is found to exhibit transmission losses close to the theoretical minimum for Cu, and the performance of the diagonal antenna in terms of cross-polarization and directivity matches closely a metallic split-block r

We report the experimental observation of large spin -pumping signals in the YIG/Pt system driven by broad -wave -vector spin -wave spin current. 280-nm-wide microwave inductive antennas offer broad -wavevector excitation, which, in combination with the qu ...

Two-dimensional semiconductor exhibits various advantages in building next-generation field-effect transistor based on van der Waals materials. However, due to the interaction between charge carriers in the semiconductor and the defects in the adjacent insulator, the trapped charges are generated and can cause substantial hysteresis and drifts of threshold voltage. This situation impedes the stable operation of the circuit. Much previous work has focused on enhancing device stability by carrier-defect energ

Low sensitivity is the primary limitation to extendingnuclearmagnetic resonance (NMR) techniques to more advanced chemical andstructural studies. Photochemically induced dynamic nuclear polarization(photo-CIDNP) is an NMR hyperpolarization technique where ...

Hematite (alpha-Fe2O3) is an antiferromagnetic material with a very low spin damping and high Neel temperature. The temperature dependence of the antiferromagnetic resonance in a bulk single crystal of hematite was characterized from room temperature up to ...

The p-GaAs photocathode/acetonitrile interface was characterised in the dark and with tens of mu W/cm(2) laser powers at 830 nm wavelength, using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Two redox mediators were used that p ...

The recent discovery of Skyrmions in Cu2OSeO3 has established a new platform to create and manipulate Skyrmionic spin textures. We use high-field electron spin resonance with a terahertz free-electron laser and pulsed magnetic fields up to 64 T to probe an ...

The dynamics of a system consisting of a matter continuum with a weak linear magnetoelectric coupling interacting with electromagnetic fields is examined on a local scale in a non-relativistic limit. A consistent expression for the internal energy of the s ...

Hyperpolarization in diamond via dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) has attracted a lot of interest for various applications as diamond exhibits extremely long C-13 spin relaxation times and has endogenous polarizing agents in the form of crystalline defec ...

The symmetry breaking due to a magnetic field applied on a hydrogen molecule H2 generates an electric polarization. This magnetoelectric effect occurs for electrons in a triplet state provided the magnetic induction field is not aligned with the symmetry axis of the molecule.

Basic wave-particle interaction dynamics from linear to chaotic regimes is experimentally studied on a frequency tunable gyrotron generating THz radiation in continuous mode (200W) at 263GHz which will be used for dynamic nuclear polarization nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy applications. In the studied system, the nonlinear dynamics associated to the waveparticle interaction is dominated by longitudinal mode competition of a given transverse TEm;p cavity-mode. This study covers a wide range of contr

In this work, we report the propagating spin waves hybridized between first-order and quasiuniform modes in a Co20Fe60B20 thin film capped by Ir25Mn75. The anticrossing gaps are observed at room temperature both in the reflection and transmission spectra, ...

Large heat currents are obtained in Co/Cu/Co spin valves positioned at the middle of Cu nanowires. The second harmonic voltage response to an applied current is used to investigate the effect of the heat current on the switching of the spin valves. Both th ...

A semiclassical description of diffusive spin transport in spin valves, which takes into account the transverse components of spin accumulation, is used to calculate the second harmonic voltage response to a low-frequency current. The description is applie ...

The thermoelectric and transport properties of MgO/Co2MnGa/Pd stacks with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy were measured. For a nominal 3.3 nm Co2MnGa thickness, the anomalous Nernst coefficient and the Nernst angle at room temperature were found to be 0. ...

The resistance of the Pt bar deposited on the YIG slab was monitored while the magnetic field was ramped through the ferromagnetic resonance with the YIG slab facing a coplanar waveguide resonator excited at 4.3 GHz excitation. The resistance change provid ...
