Impact of beam-coupling impedance on the Schottky spectrum of bunched beam

Tatiana Pieloni

The Schottky monitors of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) can be used for non-invasive beam diagnostics to estimate various bunch characteristics, such as tune, chromaticity, bunch profile or synchrotron frequency distribution. However, collective effects, ...

Verification of the Fourier-enhanced 3D finite element Poisson solver of the gyrokinetic full-f code PICLS

Laurent Villard, Stephan Brunner, Moahan Murugappan

We introduce and derive the Fourier -enhanced 3D electrostatic field solver of the gyrokinetic full -f PIC code PICLS. The solver makes use of a Fourier representation in one periodic direction of the domain to make the solving of the system easily paralle ...

Stability Analysis of Input-Series/Output-Parallel Solid-State Transformers Equipped with Second-Order Harmonic Active Power Filters

Drazen Dujic, Andrea Cervone, Tianyu Wei

Solid-State Transformers with Input-Series/Output-Parallel configuration offer a convenient solution for AC/DC conversion due to their scalability and modularity. In this configuration, each module experiences a second-order harmonic ripple caused by local ...

Efficient Temporally-Aware DeepFake Detection using H.264 Motion Vectors

Sabine Süsstrunk, Yufan Ren, Peter Arpad Grönquist

Video DeepFakes are fake media created with Deep Learning (DL) that manipulate a person’s expression or identity. Most current DeepFake detection methods analyze each frame independently, ignoring inconsistencies and unnatural movements between frames. Som ...

Exploiting the Signal-Leak Bias in Diffusion Models

Sabine Süsstrunk, Radhakrishna Achanta, Mahmut Sami Arpa, Martin Nicolas Everaert, Athanasios Fitsios

There is a bias in the inference pipeline of most diffusion models. This bias arises from a signal leak whose distribution deviates from the noise distribution, creating a discrepancy between training and inference processes. We demonstrate that this signa ...

Aggregating Spatial and Photometric Context for Photometric Stereo

David Honzátko

Photometric stereo, a computer vision technique for estimating the 3D shape of objects through images captured under varying illumination conditions, has been a topic of research for nearly four decades. In its general formulation, photometric stereo is an ...

Spectral Estimators for High-Dimensional Matrix Inference

Farzad Pourkamali

A key challenge across many disciplines is to extract meaningful information from data which is often obscured by noise. These datasets are typically represented as large matrices. Given the current trend of ever-increasing data volumes, with datasets grow ...

Stability of the Faber-Krahn inequality for the short-time Fourier transform

Jaime Gómez Ramírez

We prove a sharp quantitative version of the Faber–Krahn inequality for the short-time Fourier transform (STFT). To do so, we consider a deficit which measures by how much the STFT of a function fails to be optimally concentrated on an arbitrary set of pos ...
