The Laboratory of Microsystems 2 (LMIS2) at EPFL, led by Prof. Martin Gijs, focuses on developing new microfabrication technologies for industrial applications. They specialize in microfluidic systems, including the synthesis of CdSe nanocrystals, zinc oxide nanostructures, and the study of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans using microfluidic chips. Their research also involves high-resolution imaging, drug screening, metabolic heat measurements, and biomarker detection for cancer. The lab offers multidisciplinary projects for students, providing hands-on experience in clean room microfabrication, microfluidics, simulation, and optical imaging.
