Learning algorithms and systems Laboratory

The Laboratory of Algorithms and Learning Systems (LASA) at EPFL focuses on developing methods to enable robots to perform skills with human-like dexterity, adaptability, and immediate response to unexpected situations. LASA collaborates with MIT Press to publish textbooks on machine learning techniques for safer human-robot interactions. Led by Professor Aude Billard, LASA's Innovation Booster Robotics program promotes knowledge transfer and cooperation with partners in robotics research and industry. Research projects include human-robot manipulation for laparoscopic surgery, skill acquisition in humans and robots, and qualitative assessment of skills in microsurgery.
