Using a data sample of (10087 +/- 44)x10(6) J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector, we search for the decays eta/eta' -> e (+) e (-)mu (+)mu (-) and eta'->mu(+)mu(-)mu(+)mu(-) via the radiative decaysJ/psi ->gamma eta/gamma eta '. No excess of eve ...

The branching fraction of the decay B + → ψ ( 2 S ) ϕ ( 1020 ) K + , relative to the topologically similar decay B + → J / ψ ϕ ( 1020 ) K + , is measured using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 ...

Numerous tasks in robotics and character animation involve solving combinations of inverse kinematics and motion planning problems that require the precise design of pose sequences to achieve desired motion objectives. Accounting for the complex interplay ...

The International Tokamak Physics Activity (ITPA) has developed a comprehensive overview of the results of its coordinated R&D activities in fusion physics and diagnostics implemented during the past two decades with the aim of developing an improved physi ...

We study how light scalar fields can change the stellar landscape by triggering a new phase of nuclear matter. Scalars coupled to nucleons can develop a non-trivial expectation value at finite baryon density. This sourcing of a scalar reduces the nucleon m ...

A large variety of new physics models suggest that the rates for lepton flavour violating

-hadron decays may be much higher than predicted in the Standard Model, which leads to a high interest in the search for such decays. This thesis presents the se ...

When the available collision energy is much above the mass of the particles involved, scattering amplitudes feature kinematic configurations that are enhanced by the much lower virtuality of some intermediate particle. Such configurations generally factori ...

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is reshaping manufacturing, industrial processes, and infrastructure management. By fostering new levels of automation, efficiency, and predictive maintenance, IIoT is transforming traditional industries into intell ...

Global climate warming is leading to more frequent and severe extreme weather events, with alpine regions like the European Alps being particularly vulnerable. This thesis explores future changes in extreme weather dynamics in the southeastern Swiss Alps a ...

A study of B-c(+) -> chi(c) pi(+) decays is reported using proton-proton collision data, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). The decay B-c(+) -> chi(c2)pi(+) ...

Using (27.12 +/- 0.14) x 10(8) psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, we present the first observation of the decays chi(cJ) -> Lambda(Lambda) over bar omega, where J = 0, 1, 2, with statistical significances of 11.7s, 11.2s, and 11.8s. The b ...

In this paper, we address the challenge of obtaining a comprehensive and symmetric representation of point particle groups, such as atoms in a molecule, which is crucial in physics and theoretical chemistry. The problem has become even more important with ...

The hydrodynamic flow-like behavior of charged hadrons in high-energy lead-lead collisions is studied through multiparticle correlations. The elliptic anisotropy values based on different orders of multiparticle cumulants, v(2){2k}, are measured up to the ...

A search is presented for charged, long-lived supersymmetric particles in final states with one or more disappearing tracks. The search is based on data from proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected with the CMS detector at t ...

The Schottky monitors of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) can be used for non-invasive beam diagnostics to estimate various bunch characteristics, such as tune, chromaticity, bunch profile or synchrotron frequency distribution. However, collective effects, ...

Over the past decade, quantum photonics platforms aiming at harnessing the fundamental properties of single particles, such as quantum superposition and quantum entanglement, have flourished. In this context, single-photon emitters capable of operating at ...

The charge-parity (CP) structure of the Yukawa interaction between the Higgs (H) boson and the top quark is measured in a data sample enriched in the t (t) over bar H and tH associated production, using 138 fb(-1) of data collected in proton-proton collisi ...

This PhD thesis aims at testing one of the fundamental properties of the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics: the lepton flavour universality (LFU), which states that

A search for the lepton-flavour violating decays B0 -> K*0µ(±)e(∓) and B(s)0-> ϕµ(±)e(∓) is presented, using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb(-1). No significant signa ...

The standard way to do computations in Quantum Field Theory (QFT) often results in the requirement of dramatic cancellations between contributions induced by a "heavy" sector into the physical observables of the "light" (or low energy) sector - the phenome ...
