Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) offer great promise in a variety of gas- and liquid-phase separations. However, the excellent performance on the lab scale hardly translates into pilot- or industrial-scale applications due to the microcrystalline nature of ...

Metal-free heteroatom-doped carbocatalysts with a high surface area are desirable for catalytic reactions. In this study, we found an efficient strategy to prepare nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur co-doped hollow carbon shells (denote as NPS-HCS) with a su ...

Herein we present a detailed study of the hydrogen adsorption properties of Cu‐BTTri, a robust crystalline metal–organic framework containing open metal‐coordination sites. Diffraction techniques, carried out on the activated framework, reveal a structure ...

Using azolium-based ligands for the construction of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is a viable strategy to immobilize catalytically active N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) or NHC-derived species inside MOF pores. Thus, in the present work, a novel copper MOF ...

We report an efficient and controllable route to prepare magnetic tubular nanoreactors composed of a mesoporous SiO2 shell with iron-noble metal nanoparticles inside. The key of this method is to design and fabricate Fe nanoparticles encapsulated in a meso ...

With the ever-increasing production of electronics, there is an ensuing need for gold extraction from sources other than virgin mines. Currently, there are no technologies reported to date that can effectively and selectively concentrate ultratrace amounts ...

The present invention relates to a method for synthesis of a metal organic framework composite comprising the folowing steps: a) Synthesize a metal organic framework; b) Make a polymer grow on said metal organic framework, said polymer being chosen among p ...

Metal-organic frameworks are of interest in a number of host-guest applications. However, their weak coordination bonding often leads to instability in aqueous environments, particularly at extreme pH, and hence, is a challenging topic in the field. In thi ...

Aminated derivatives of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and furfural are critical intermediates for the pharmaceutical industry. The state-of-the-art catalysts currently used for these syntheses are mostly homogeneous in nature, motivating the design of recy ...

Introducing oligomeric or polymeric units into metal- organic frameworks (MOFs) can result in composites that have significantly improved properties when compared with the individual MOF or polymer building blocks. With such synergy in mind, this work pres ...

A double solvent method is for the first time used to synthesize a polymer composite that is constructed by a Ni-pyrazolate MOF and polydopamine (PDA). The resulting composite shows significantly enhanced water and CO2 adsorption properties compared to the ...

In this contribution, recent advances in the construction of MOF-polymer composites and their corresponding applications are briefly reviewed. The appearance of such architectures is becoming prominent in recent literature, due to the fact that the union o ...

Transition-metal phosphides have received tremendous attention during the past few years because they are earth-abundant, cost-effective, and show outstanding catalytic performance in several electrochemically driven conversions including hydrogen evolutio ...

High internal surface areas, an asset that is highly sought after in material design, has brought metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to the forefront of materials research. In fact, a major focus in the field is on creating innovative ways to maximize MOF sur ...

A new type lead-free catalyst of a Pd-Cu2O nanocomposite was developed for highly selective semi-hydrogenation of alkynes. With unprecedented selectivity for the semi-hydrogenation of terminal alkynes to alkenes, we show for the first time that the catalys ...

Owing to the almost boundless structural tunability, MOF and MOF‐derived catalysts have recently exhibited structures of higher complexity, and hence, have demonstrated activity in a wide array of organic transformations. These reactions have a broad range ...

While metal-organic frameworks (MOF) alone offer a wide range of structural tunability, the formation of composites, through the introduction of other non-native species, like polymers, can further broaden their structure/property spectrum. Here we demonst ...

A new type of spindle-shaped nanoscale yolk/shellmagnetic stirring bar containing noblemetal nanoparticles was prepared. The as-synthesized Pd-Fe@meso-SiO2 not only showed impressive activity and stability as a heterogeneous catalyst in a macroscopic flask ...

Three-dimensionally hierarchical flowerlike MgO hollow spheres with an extremely high surface area of 343 m(2) g(-1) were prepared through a facile and environmentally friendly solvothermal route. The maximum adsorption capacity at natural pH reached 569.7 ...

MOF-derived Co3S4/CN hollow nanoboxes (CN=nitrogen-doped carbon) was used to catalyze the chemoselective reduction of nitroarenes to anilines under mild reaction conditions with H-2 as the reducing agent. The catalyst provides high conversion efficiencies ...
