Perovskites have been demonstrated in solar cells with a power conversion efficiency of well above 20%, which makes them one of the strongest contenders for next generation photovoltaics. While there are no concerns about their efficiency, very little is ...

A perovskite material including an organic-inorganic perovskite structure of formula (I), AnMX3 (I), n being the number of cation A and an integer >4, A being a monovalent cation selected from inorganic cations Ai and/or from organic cations Ao, M being a ...

All of the cations currently used in perovskite solar cells abide by the tolerance factor for incorporation into the lattice. We show that the small and oxidation-stable rubidium cation (Rb+) can be embedded into a "cation cascade" to create perovskite mat ...

All current highest efficiency perovskite solar cells (PSCs) use highly toxic, halogenated solvents, such as chlorobenzene (CB) or toluene (TLN), in an antisolvent step or as solvent for the hole transporter material (HTM). A more environmentally friendly ...

Lead-based mixed perovskite materials have emerged in the last couple of years as promising photovoltaic materials. Recently, it was shown that improved material stability can be achieved by incorporating small amounts of inorganic cations (Cs+ and Rb+), p ...

Perovskite solar cells have recently reached staggering efficiencies, through efforts focused on reducing grain boundaries, by enlarging the size of the crystalline domains that constitute the perovskite films. Here, we demonstrate that smaller crystallite ...

Today's best perovskite solar cells use a mixture of formamidinium and methylammonium as the monovalent cations. With the addition of inorganic cesium, the resulting triple cation perovskite compositions are thermally more stable, contain less phase impuri ...

Organic-inorganic perovskite structures in which lead is substituted by tin are exceptional candidates for broadband light absorption. Herein we present a thorough analysis of the optical properties of CH3NH3SnxPb1-xI3 films, providing the field with defin ...

The achievement of high efficiency and high stability in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) requires optimal selection and evaluation of the various components. After a brief introduction to the perovskite materials and their historical evolution, the first par ...

Ionic liquids can retard the perovskite crystallization with the aim to form compact films with larger and more uniformly distributed grain size. The ionic liquid driven crystallization is exploited to prepared a record planar perovskite solar cell with st ...

Controlling the morphology and surface passivation in perovskite solar cells is paramount in obtaining optimal opto-electronic properties. This study incorporates N-doped graphene nanosheets in the perovskite layer, which simultaneously induces an improved ...

The simplification of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), by replacing the mesoporous electron selective layer (ESL) with a planar one, is advantageous for large-scale manufacturing. PSCs with a planar TiO2 ESL have been demonstrated, but these exhibit unstabil ...

Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite materials have risen up as leading components for light-harvesting applications. However, to date many questions are still open concerning the operation of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). A systematic analysis of the inte ...

Herein, we describe the synthesis of a hole transporting material based on a partially planarised quart-p-phenylene core incorporating tetraketal and diphenylamine substituents that show optimal energy levels and solubility for perovskite solar cell applic ...

Soln.-processable perovskite solar cells have recently achieved certified power conversion efficiencies of over 20%, challenging the long-standing perception that high efficiencies must come at high costs. One major bottleneck for increasing the efficie ...

In this work, we synthesized novel hole transporting materials (HTMs) and studied their impact on the stability of perovskite-based solar cells (PSCs). The steady-state maximum power output of devices in working condition was monitored to assess the stabil ...

Growing large, oriented grains of perovskite often leads to efficient devices, but it is unclear if properties of the grains are responsible for the efficiency. Domains observed in SEM are commonly misidentified with crystallographic grains, but SEM images ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have attracted much attention because of their rapid rise to 22% efficiencies. Here, we review the rapid evolution of PSCs as they enter a new phase that could revolutionize the photovoltaic industry. In particular, we describ ...

We demonstrate that by a proper design of a system comprising a perovskite solar cell (PSC) coupled to an electrochemical double-layer capacitor (EDLC), it is possible to simultaneously improve both the PSC and EDLC performance and outperform each single u ...

The search for new classes of hole transporting materials (HTMs) is a very important task on the way towards commercialization of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In this work, the synthesis and performance in PSCs of new enamine-based HTMs are presented. Th ...
