An approach for a low-power chip-scale package is described, that provides a laser output with a programmable frequency across 50 nm of bandwidth centered at 1550 nm, and a resolution of one part in 10(14). ...

We experimentally observed the Raman-induced self-frequency shift of high-intensity dissipative Kerr solitons in high-Q silicon nitride microresonators. The Raman redshift is linearly dependent on the pump-frequency-detuning, associated with the tunability ...

Since their discovery microresonator-based frequency combs have drawn a lot of interest due to their compact form factor and potential for integration. We report on the recent progress regarding dissipative Kerr solitons generated from photonic chip-based ...

Dissipative solitons can be found in a variety of systems resulting from the double balance between dispersion and nonlinearity, as well as gain and loss. Recently, they have been observed to spontaneously form in Kerr nonlinear microresonators driven by a ...

We demonstrate the existence of perfect soliton crystal states and develop the deterministic procedure for their excitation in Si3N4 microresonators. We show that despite exceptional symmetrical properties, their behavior is strongly linked to the chaotic ...

Integrated microresonators are essential building blocks of linear and nonlinear photonic devices. Here we show that the performance of high-Q silicon nitride microresonators for nonlinear photonics strongly depends on the ideality of their coupler design. ...

An optically stabilized dual-comb system at telecom wavelength is used to drive a mid-infrared spectroscopy for parallel gas-phase detection in the functional group region from 2800-3600 cm -1 . A coherent broadband intensity-enhanced spectrum in the mid-i ...

Directly accessing the middle infrared, the molecular functional group spectral region, via supercontinuum generation processes based on turn-key fiber lasers offers the undeniable advantage of simplicity and robustness. Recently, the assessment of the coh ...

We developed a chip-based silicon nitride platform with thick waveguides (> 2 mm) that overcomes the usual fabrication limitation. We demonstrate both microresonator frequency comb generation at 2:5 mm and supercontinuum generation extending beyond 4:0 mm ...

A dual-frequency-comb spectrometer and a method for spectroscopic investigation of a sample are described. The spectrometer includes first and second frequency comb devices for emitting laser pulses along first and second light paths, wherein the repetitio ...

Frequency-comb-assisted diode laser spectroscopy, employing both the accuracy of an optical frequency comb and the broad wavelength tuning range of a tunable diode laser, has been widely used in many applications. In this Letter, we present a novel method ...

The first realization of a green-light frequency comb is reported in a silicon nitride ring microresonator, from third-order non-linear interaction of a near-infrared 1-THz spacing Kerr comb spanning 2/3 of an octave. ...

We study nonlinear dynamics emerging in a photonic microring dimer. It is shown that four wave mixing pathways between the dimer supermodes lead to novel nonlinear phenomena going beyond the single resonator physics. (C) 2020 The Author(s) ...

Frequency comb generation based on dissipative Kerr solitons (DKS) in microresonators is important for many applications. We show higher order mode suppression in silicon nitride microresonators, that reduces avoided modal crossing to enable DKS generation ...

We experimentally observe widely tunable mid-IR femtosecond pulses by resonant radiation, generated by direct three-wave-mixing from a soliton in PPLN. The poling pitch gives a parametrically tunable resonant radiation, a feature absent in Kerr media. ...

Dissipative Kerr solitons in optical microresonators combine nonlinear optical physics with photonic-integrated technologies. They are promising for a number of applications ranging from optical coherent communications to astrophysical spectrometer calibra ...

We discover a novel mechanism allowing for successive reduction of the number of dissipative Kerr solitons in optical microresonators. It is demonstrated that multiple and single soliton state can be deterministically accessed. ...

We demonstrate efficient generation of mid-infrared dispersive wave at 3.5 m in a Si3N4 waveguide pumped by a 2090nm femtosecond mode-locked fiber laser. The 8% maximum efficiency allows for a milliwatt-level average power mid-infrared pulse. ...
