Radiant floor heating is widely recognized for its low-energy consumption and high efficiency. Traditional systems, however, typically heat the entire floor area within a space, conditioning spaces uniformly regardless of occupancy. This study investigates ...

Here we present the new project “Indoor Chemical Human Emissions and Reactivity” (ICHEAR), which is focused on examining the role of human emissions on indoor air chemistry. The specific goal of this project is to investigate the impact of exhaled and derm ...

People are exposed to myriad of airborne pollutants in their homes. Owing to diverse potential sources of air pollution and human activity patterns, accurate assessment of residential exposures is complex. In this study, we explored the relationship betwee ...

Recent green building certification programs have put a strong emphasis on occupant health and well-being. For recently emerged WELL certification, we lack evidence about its effectiveness in relation to occupant satisfaction, productivity and health. Here ...

Air pollutant exposure in workplace environments has been associated with health and cognitive outcomes of workers. While green building certification programs have been instrumental in promoting indoor air quality (IAQ), the present literature indicates i ...

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that has the potential to accumulate in buildings and over time, causes lung cancer in humans. Present methods for radon measurements are disparate, which pose challenges to benchmark radon concentrations and ...

A significant corpus of research has shown that occupant behaviour is a key factor of uncertainty when predicting building energy use. Building occupants affect energy use directly and indirectly by regulating their indoor environment according to their co ...

Cities today encounter significant challenges pertaining to urbanization and population growth, resource availability, and climate change. Concurrently, unparalleled datasets are generated through Internet of Things (IoT) sensing implemented at urban, buil ...

BACKGROUND: Modern health concerns related to air pollutant exposure in buildings have been exacerbated owing to several factors. Methods for assessing inhalation exposures indoors have been restricted to stationary air pollution measurements, typically as ...

Although indoor environmental quality (IEQ) and human health have been on the agenda of the green building industry, a new emphasis is being placed on building features that explicitly promote the experience of occupants. However, evidence of the performan ...

Buildings are designed to respond to functional and regulatory needs, providing comfortable conditions to occupants, offering satisfactory environmental settings, minimising health risks, and enhancing individual and collective quality of life. Although th ...

Personal care products (PCPs) contain diverse volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and routine use of PCPs indoors has important implications for indoor air quality and human chemical exposures. This chamber study deployed aerosol instrumentation and two onli ...

Radon, a naturally occurring radioactive gas, poses a significant health risk as prolonged exposure indoors can lead to lung cancer. Current radon measurement techniques vary widely in methodology, device types, and exposure duration, posing challenges to ...

Copyright © 2024 Rey, Meisser, Licina and Goyette Pernot.Radon, a naturally occurring radioactive gas, poses a significant health risk by accumulating in buildings and potentially leading to lung cancer. Depending on building construction and geographical ...

Clothing plays a significant role in facilitating inhalation exposure to particulate matter (PM). Nevertheless, there is a lack of studies investigating PM resuspension from clothing. This study aims to quantify size-resolved PM resuspension rate (RR) from ...

indoor air quality, perceived air quality, occupant behavior, office environment ...
