The world needs to move from a fossil fuel to a renewable energy based society. With the increasing electricity production from wind and PV, short and long term energy storage are becoming one of challenge of the 21st century. While batteries are the prefe ...

Supported aluminum-based complex hydrides (alanates) were investigated in view of their interaction at the interface. Nickel-containing porous carbon sheets (Ni-PCSs) were combined with various alanates, resulting in a decrease of the decomposition tempera ...

Catalytic hydrogen combustion (CHC) plays a crucial role in enhancing the safety and efficiency of fuel cells and electrolysers, thereby promoting the H2 economy. To increase the catalytic activity of supported metal particles for CHC, the active surface a ...

Metal hydrides are an interesting group of chemical compounds, able to store hydrogen in a reversible, compact and safe manner. Among them, A(2)B(7)-type intermetallic alloys based on La-Mg-Ni have attracted particular attention due to their high electroch ...

Direct borohydride fuel cells (DBFCs) operate with liquid H2O2 and a high-energy-density NaBH4 solution. A facile, direct synthesis method using a non-noble nickel catalyst for the DBFC anode is shown. The complex anode reaction with an anion-exchange iono ...

The hydrogen storage properties and crystal structures of YMgNi4-based alloys, which were synthesized from (2 - x)YNi2 and xMgNi(2) (0.6

The synthesis of fuels from CO2 has made tremendous progress in recent years, although practical applications remain limited. Herein, we describe a cyclic process that produces MeOH from CO(2)via formamide intermediates, which are initially reduced using N ...

Infrared thermography is a powerful tool to investigate the dynamic evolution of temperature in chemical reactions. The CO2 hydrogenation reaction is an ideal model reaction to assess the presented technique due to its high exothermicity. Various dynamic e ...

YMgNi4-based alloys exhibit reversible hydrogen absorption and desorption reactions at near room temperature. Here, we report that Co-substituted YMgNi4-based alloys exhibited higher hydrogen contents and lower hydrogen absorption and desorption reaction p ...

The relation between catalytic reactivities and metal/metal oxide ratios, as well as the functions of the metal and the metal oxides were investigated in the CO2 hydrogenation reaction over highly active Cox(CoO)1–x catalysts in operando. The catalytic rea ...

The Cover Feature shows the application of a pyrrolidinium-based ionic liquid with a borohydride anion to simultaneously capture and reduce large amounts of CO2. The ionic liquid cation interacts with CO2, allowing the borohydride to fix and reduce it to t ...

We demonstrate the ability of tetraalkylammonium borohydrides to capture large amounts of CO2, even at low CO2 concentrations, and reduce it to formate under ambient conditions. These materials show CO2 absorption capacities up to 30 mmolCO2 g(-1) at room ...

Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) are novel mixtures that exhibit a significant depression in melting points compared to their individual components. This work finds that combining tetrabutylammonium borohydride (TBABH) with ammonia borane (AB) yields new, sta ...

Hydrogen storage materials store hydrogen in their atomic states, enabling more compact and safer storage methods compared to those for gaseous and liquid hydrogen. Although various types of hydrogen storage materials have been reported, new materials with ...
