Federico Matteini

Federico Matteini is the Executive Director of the Center for Food Challenges and Head of Strategic Portfolio Development within the Vice Presidency for Strategic Initiatives at EPFL. In these roles, he works closely with senior leadership to build, shape, and launch high-impact initiatives that align institutional capabilities with strategic priorities to deliver tangible outcomes.With more than a decade in technology transfer spanning startups, academia, and industry, he specializes in turning research into societal benefit. His experience includes conceiving, building, and leading multi-stakeholder programs—most notably an inter-institutional open-innovation platform that unites universities, startups, and corporations to accelerate innovation—as well as a strategic foresight service that helps industry partners anticipate technological shifts and spot opportunities. He brings a pragmatic, results-driven approach to complex challenges.
