The convergence of materials science, electronics, and biology, namely bioelectronic interfaces, leads novel and precise communication with biological tissue, particularly with the nervous system. However, the translation of lab‐based innovation toward cli ...

The present invention refers to a system for stimulation of the spinal cord for the rehabilitation of motor function in subjects with spinal cord injury or other motor disorders. Said system comprises a programmable implantable pulse generator (IPG), opera ...

Gait analysis has traditionally been carried out in a laboratory environment using expensive equipment, but, recently, reliable, affordable, and wearable sensors have enabled integration into clinical applications as well as use during activities of daily ...

Tissue loss significantly reduces the potential for functional recovery after spinal cord injury. We previously showed that implantation of porous scaffolds composed of a biodegradable and biocompatible block copolymer of Poly-lactic-co-glycolic acid and P ...

The process by which the cerebral cortex generates movements to achieve different tasks remains poorly understood. Here, we leveraged the rich repertoire of well-controlled primate locomotor behaviors to study how task-specific movements are encoded across ...

Teravoxel-scale, cellular-resolution images of cleared rodent brains acquired with light-sheet fluorescence microscopy have transformed the way we study the brain. Realizing the potential of this technology requires computational pipelines that generalize ...

The present disclosure provides a closed-loop system for real-time control of epidural and/or subdural electrical stimulation comprising means for applying to a subject neuromodulation with adjustable stimulation parameters, said means being operatively co ...

For several decades, deep brain stimulation has been a major breakthrough in the treatment of movement disorders, significantly improving the quality of life of patients with Parkinson’s disease, but also with dystonia or tremor. Thanks to technological ad ...

Neuromodulation of spinal sensorimotor circuits improves motor control in animal models and humans with spinal cord injury. With common neuromodulation devices, electrical stimulation parameters are tuned manually and remain constant during movement. We de ...

The present invention relates to a robotic system useful to unload an object/person from its weight. The robotic system is useful in locomotor rehabilitation programs and allows the manipulation of forces in a three-dimensional space with far lower actuato ...

Regaining arm control is a top priority for people with paralysis. Unfortunately, the complexity of the neural mechanisms underlying arm control has limited the effectiveness of neurotechnology approaches. Here, we exploited the neural function of survivin ...

Spinal-cord injury interrupts communication between the brain and spinal cord, leading to paralysis. An implant that decodes the brain signals that control movements and drives electrical stimulation of the spinal cord re-establishes this communication, en ...

A neuromodulation system (10,110) is disclosed, especially a neurostimulation system (10,110), for treating a patient, especially for enhancing at least one autonomous function such a blood circulation and/or respiration, wherein the system comprises • - a ...

The mechanical mismatch between implantable interfaces and neural tissues may be reduced by employing soft polymeric materials. Here, we report on a simple strategy to prepare and pattern a soft electrode coating of neural interfacing devices based on a sc ...

The present invention relates to a system for planning and/or providing neuromodulation (10), especially neurostimulation, comprising: - first data input module (26) for stimulation related basic data, - a stimulation related basic data storage module (28) ...

The cell types affected by biological perturbations in complex tissues are uncovered by single-cell analysis. ...

This study investigates the pathological toe and heel gaits seen in human locomotion using neuromusculoskeletal modelling and simulation. In particular, it aims to investigate potential cause-effect relationships between biomechanical or neural impairments ...

Orthostatic hypotension is a cardinal feature of multiple-system atrophy. The upright posture provokes syncopal episodes that prevent patients from standing and walking for more than brief periods. We implanted a system to restore regulation of blood press ...

Decades of technological developments have populated the field of neuroprosthetics with myriad replacement strategies, neuromodulation therapies, and rehabilitation procedures to improve the quality of life for individuals with neuromotor disorders. Despit ...

The present invention relates to a neuromodulation/neurostimulation system (10) for stimulating at least one neuronal circuitry responsible for micturition control in a mammal with bladder disfunction, especially for bladder relaxation and/or for bladder v ...
