Dries Rodet (1982) is an architect and co-founder, with Charlotte Truwant, of the Basel-based office Truwant + Rodet +. He is currently Guest Professor at EPFL, where he leads the design studio Atelier for Uncertain Conditions. The studio explores the transformation of existing structures at the intersection of architecture and landscape, where time is considered the main protagonist. In 2015, together with Charlotte Truwant, he founded Truwant + Rodet +, whose practice focuses on the transformation of existing structures at the intersection of architecture and landscape. The office’s ongoing research, Proposals for Uncertain Conditions, examines how architectural strategies can engage uncertainty—environmental, social, or temporal—as a generative design framework. In 2019, they were part of a cross-disciplinary team developing new tools and methodologies for the Dhaka Art Summit, contributing an environmentally responsive approach to exhibition-making.From 2020 to 2022, he taught as a Visiting Professor in the Bachelor program at ENSAV Paris, where his studio further developed the office’s research on uncertain conditions and the transformation of existing structures. In 2018, he co-founded the cultural association dasverein, together with Melissa Freudiger and Charlotte Truwant. The platform fosters architectural and artistic discourse with a focus on space making.Truwant + Rodet + received the Swiss Art Award in 2017 and is currently engaged in several major projects, including: – The renovation of the Centre Culturel Suisse in Paris, in collaboration with ASBR. – The transformation and extension of a sports center in Bulle. – The Nauentor transformation project in Basel, with Bruther and Jan Kinsbergen. – A forthcoming project for inclusive and integrative housing in Zürich.Through his combined roles as practitioner, educator, and researcher, Dries Rodet continues to explore how architecture can operate within uncertain conditions, transforming existing structures into resilient, resource-aware spatial proposals.
