Reaction of N-arylsulfonyl allylamines with alkyl nitriles in the presence of di-tert-butyl peroxide (DTBP) and a catalytic amount of copper salt afforded homologated aziridines in 43-86% yield. A sequence involving addition of the in situ generated cyanom ...

Discovery of new chemical reactivity of a given functional group can often result in innovative synthesis of important chemical entities that possess unprecedented properties. We designed and developed a one-step synthesis of 5-amino-4-carboxamidothiazoles ...

The reaction of propargyl amines with tert-butylisonitrile in the presence of a catalytic amount of both Yb(OTf)3 and AgOTf afforded imidazoles, whereas the same reaction with primary and secondary alkylisonitriles, as well as arylisonitriles, in the prese ...

Isonitrile 1 due to its carbene-like reactivity serves generally as a one-carbon synthon in a diverse set of organic transformations. We report in this article that the isocyano group can also act as a polarized triple bond to undergo, as a two-atom syntho ...

A search is presented for high-mass exclusive diphoton production via photon-photon fusion in proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV in events where both protons survive the interaction. The analysis utilizes data corresponding to an integrated lumino ...

As a result of detailed mechanistic and kinetic studies, we have proposed that PdX2-catalyzed oxidative coupling of o-alkynylanilines 1 with terminal alkynes 2 under aerobic conditions is initiated by aminopalladation of 1 followed by ligand exchange of th ...

The azido group occupies an important position in modern organic chemistry, broadly used as amine surrogates and as anchors in bioconjugation. Despite their importance, examples of selective direct azidation of inert C(sp3)–H bonds remain limited and often ...

the strategy involving the use of functionalized tetrahydro-6H-cycloocta[b]indol-6-one is reported as a key intermediate for synthesis of members of the sarpagine-ajmaline-macroline family of monoterpene indole alkaloids. The desired tricycle was synthesiz ...

The generation of benzylic radicals through hydrogen atom abstraction (HAT) has been a recent research focus and various C(sp(3))-H bond functionalization protocols have been developed relying on this elementary step. We report herein copper- and iron-cata ...

Transition metal catalyzed Sonogashira cross-coupling of terminal alkynes with aryl(vinyl) (pseudo)halides has been successfully extended to alkyl halides for the synthesis of functionalized internal alkynes. The direct alkynylation of remote unfunctionali ...

We report an unprecedented organocatalytic enantioselective acyloin rearrangement of alpha,alpha-disubstituted alpha-hydroxy acetals. In the presence of a catalytic amount of chiral binol-derived N-triflyl phosphoramide, alpha-hydroxy acetals rearranged to ...

The reaction of allyl ethyl carbonates with isocyanides in the presence of a catalytic amount of Pd(OAc)2 provided ketenimines through b-hydride elimination of the allyl imidoylpalladium intermediates. The insertion of the isocyanide into the p-allyl Pd co ...

Benzocyclobutenes (BCBs) are highly valuable compounds in organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and materials science. However, catalytic modular synthesis of functionalized BCBs from easily accessible starting materials remains limited. We report herein ...

Fluorocyclization of alkenes tethered with a pronucleophile is an efficient transformation that converts easily accessible starting materials to fluorinated heterocycles in a single step. We report herein an unprecedented Pd(II)-catalyzed oxidative domino ...

Heating o-hydroxyacetophenones and anilines under solvent-free conditions afforded the corresponding aryl ketimines in good to excellent yields. ...

The art of natural product total synthesis is closely associated with two major determinants: the development/application of novel chemical reactions and the innovation in strategic use of classic organic reactions. While purposely seeking/applying a new s ...

Pd-catalyzed intramolecular asymmetric carbopalladation of N-aryl acrylamides followed by reduction of C(sp3)-Pd intermediate using diboron–water as a hydride source afforded enantioenriched 3,3-disubstituted oxindoles in high yields and enantioselectiviti ...

2,3,3-Trisubstituted indolenine constitutes an integral part of many biologically important monoterpene indole alkaloids. We report herein an unprecedented access to this skeleton by a TiCl3-mediated reductive cyclization of tetrasubstituted alkenes bearin ...

Dual photoredox−transition-metal catalysis has emerged as a powerful tool for the development of chemical transformations. However, its application in the selective difunctionalization of 1,3-dienes remains essentially unexploited. By the synergistic actio ...

Be like Mike: The title reaction in the presence of the catalyst 1 afforded Michael adducts in excellent yields and enantioselectivities. The adducts were readily converted into alpha,alpha’-disubstituted alpha-amino acids. The enantioselective total synth ...
