A copper-catalyzed three-component reaction of alkenes, acetonitrile, and sodium azide afforded gamma-azido alkyl nitriles by formation of one C(sp3)-C(sp3) bond and one C(sp3)-N bond. The transformation allows concomitant introduction of two highly versat ...

In the presence of a catalytic amount of chiral phosphoric acid, nucleophilic addition of N-monosubstituted hydrazones to N-Boc imines affords differentially protected vicinal diamines in the form of b-amino N,N’-dialkyldiazenes in excellent yields with hi ...

The reaction of secondary homopropargylamines, isocyanides, and water in the presence of a catalytic amount of silver acetate and subsequent purification by chromatography on silica gel afforded substituted proline amides in good to excellent yields. Prima ...

A copper-catalyzed three-component reaction of alkenes, alkylnitriles, and water affords gamma-butyrolactones in good yields. The domino process involves an unprecedented hydroxy-cyanoalkylation of alkenes and subsequent lactonization with the creation of ...

Deviant behavior: In a deviation from “normal” reactivity, isocyanides underwent co-trimerization with carboxylic acids in the presence of ZnBr2 to smoothly provide oxazoles (see scheme). The reaction is thought to occur by initial nucleophilic addition of ...

Merge and divert. (±)-goniomitine was synthesized featuring two key steps: a) fragment coupling to functionalized cyclopentene by a novel palladium-catalyzed decarboxylative vinylation reaction and b) an unprecedented one-pot integrated oxidation/reduction ...

A seven-step enantioselective total synthesis of (-)-terengganensine A, a complex heptacyclic monoterpene indole alkaloid, was accomplished. Key steps included: a) Noyori's catalytic enantioselective transfer hydrogenation of the iminium salt to set up the ...

Chiral morpholinone is an important building block in organic synthesis and a pharmacophore in medicinal chemistry. However, catalytic enantioselective methods for the construction of this N,O-heterocycle remain scarce. We report herein a chiral phosphoric ...

The development of concise, sustainable, and cost-effective synthesis of aryltetralin lignans, bearing either a fused lactone or cyclic ether, is of significant medicinal importance. Reported is that in the presence of Fukuzumi's acridinium salt under blue ...

Enantioselective total syntheses of title natural products from a common cyclohexenone derivative (S)-18 were reported. Ozonolysis of (S)-18 afforded a stable diketo ester (R)-17 that was subsequently converted to two skeletally different natural products, ...

A non-intrusive reduced-basis (RB) method is proposed for parametrized unsteady flows. A set of reduced basis functions are extracted from a collection of high-fidelity solutions via a proper orthogonal decomposition (POD), and the coefficients of the redu ...

A copper-promoted oxyalkylation of alkenes with alkylnitriles has been developed. The protocol provides rapid access to phthalides (g-lactones) or isochromanones (d-lactones) via the formation of a C(sp3)C(sp3) and a C(sp3)O bond with the generation of up ...

Pd-catalyzed cyclizative functionalization of γ-hydroxyalkenes affords tetrahydrofuran derivatives via a key 5-exo-trig oxypalladation step. Herein, we report a palladium(II)-catalyzed, Selectfluor-mediated formal 6-endo-trig fluorocycloetherification of γ ...

The screening of the ICSN chemical library on various disease-relevant protein kinases led to the identification of natural flavonoidal alkaloids of unknown configuration as potent inhibitors of the CDK1 and CDK5 kinases. We thus developed an efficient and ...

We report the first examples of catalytic enantioselective benzilic ester rearrangement reaction. In the presence of a catalytic amount of Cu(OTf)(2) and a chiral box ligand under mild conditions, reaction of 2,3-diketoesters with alcohols afforded structu ...

In spite of the obvious synthetic potential of functionalized allylic azides, only limited synthetic routes have been developed. We report herein a three-component 1,2-amidoazidation of 1,3-dienes. In the presence of fac-Ir(ppy)(3) under blue LED irradiati ...

A concise enantioselective total synthesis of (¢)- isoschizogamine, a complex bridged polycyclic monoterpene indole alkaloid, was accomplished. N-Alkylation of an enantio- enriched imine with an alkyl iodide afforded an iminium salt, which, upon heating by ...

A copper-catalyzed enantioselective arylative semipinacol rearrangement of allylic alcohols was developed. In the presence of a catalytic amount of an in situ generated chiral copper-bisoxazoline complex, reaction of allylic alcohols with diaryliodonium sa ...

Peripheral functionalization of a quaternary carbon via C(sp 3)−H bond activation has made significant progress in recent years. However, direct editing of a quaternary carbon through Csp 3 −Csp 3 bond cleavage and refunctionalization of nonstrained acycli ...
