We demonstrate the ability to guide high-frequency photoacoustic waves through thick tissue with a water-filled silica-capillary (150 mu m inner diameter and 30 mm long). An optical-resolution photoacoustic image of a 30 mu m diameter absorbing nylon threa ...

In-vivo imaging of the eye's fundus is widely used to study eye's health. State of the art Adaptive Optics devices can resolve features up to a lateral resolution of 1.5 um. This resolution is still above what is needed to observe subcellular structures su ...

The ability to train ever-larger neural networks brings artificial intelligence to the forefront of scientific and technical discoveries. However, their exponentially increasing size creates a proportionally greater demand for energy and computational hard ...

We demonstrate the first all-fiber multimode spatiotemporally mode-locked laser. The oscillator generates dissipative soliton pulses at 1036 nm with 12 mW average power, 6.24 ps duration, and 24.3 MHz repetition rate. The reported pulse energy (0.5 nJ) rep ...

We propose a data -driven approach for light transmission control inside multimode fibers (MMFs). Specifically, we show that a convolutional neural network is able to reconstruct amplitude/phase modulated images from scrambled amplitude -only images obtain ...

3D printing based on additive manufacturing is an advanced manufacturing technique that allows the fabrication of arbitrary macroscopic and microscopic objects. Many 3D printing systems require large optical elements or nozzles in proximity to the built st ...

This invention is a method and apparatus to pick up a photoacoustic signal purely via optical means and via an endoscope. The photoacoustic endoscope invention relies only on optical excitation and detection methods. A light focus spot generates a photoaco ...

Spatio-temporal control of femtosecond pulse-delivery through multimode fibers (MMF) can be used to achieve two photon photo-polymerization. Transmission-matrix method is used in linear domain to solve the scrambling effect at the fiber output and generate ...

The present invention is related to a method and apparatus for the volumetric fabrication of three-dimensional objects or articles from photoresponsive materials loaded with scattering particles, by adjusting the refractive index of said photoresponsive ma ...

It is possible to focus coherent light through a multicore fiber with a resolution finer than the core-to-core spacing using digital phase conjugation. In this paper we use the memory effect and show that the displacement of the focus spot can be realized ...

Additive manufacturing (AM) methods are being integrated in ceramics fabrication either as the main manufacturing tool or for auxiliary purposes. By using polymers, powders and preceramic formulated materials, AM techniques are pushing towards higher resol ...

The wavelength tuning properties of a tunable external cavity laser based on multiplexed volume holographic gratings and a commercial micromirror device are reported. The 3x3x3 cm(3) laser exhibits single mode operation in single or multi colors between 77 ...

The invention discloses a system (1) and method to guide light through a scattering medium (4) and project images on a screen (5) placed after the medium (4). Many of the shortcomings of previous approaches for guiding light through scattering medium (4) h ...

Water-splitting devices that operate with humid air feeds are an attractive alternative for hydrogen production as the required water input can be obtained directly from ambient air. This article presents a novel proof-of-concept microfluidic platform that ...

A system for capturing solar light of the sun, whereby the solar light comprises a short wavelength light component and a long wavelength light component. The system comprises at least a lens (101), a light- guide (102), and a self-adaptive coupling featur ...

We introduce a lock-in method to increase the phase contrast in incoherent Differential Phase Contrast (DPC) imaging. The use of a smart pixel detector with in-pixel signal demodulation, paired with synchronized illumination, provides the basis of a bit-ef ...

Tomographic additive manufacturing produces complex parts with a wide range of printable materials but remains limited in terms of resolution. Here, the authors tune the etendue of the light source and accurately control the photopolymerization kinetics us ...

A method for producing a three-dimensional object comprising computing a sequence of back-projections describing the three-dimensional object to be formed from different orientation angles of said object, defining a sequence of patterns of light using said ...

Affordable, stable and earth-abundant photo-electrochemical materials are indispensable for the large-scale implementation of sunlight-driven hydrogen production. Here we present an intrinsically stable and scalable solar water splitting device that is ful ...

Volumetric 3D printing enables the rapid fabrication of centimetre-scale objects, with the fastest techniques requiring only a few seconds. Having emerged during the past 7 years, this new family of technologies is posed to revolutionize additive manufactu ...
