Different types of variable speed limit (VSL) controllers have been proposed to improve the traffic mobility at highway bottlenecks. However, the benefit of VSL is sometimes deteriorated by the capacity drop phenomenon introduced by the disordered lane cha ...

Overview This dataset provides high-resolution, georeferenced vehicle trajectories collected via drone footage at three roundabouts located in the municipalities of Frick and Laufenburg, Canton of Aargau, Switzerland. The data were collected as part of a ...

The problem of clustering in urban traffic networks has been mainly studied in static framework by only considering traffic conditions at a given time. Nevertheless, it is important to underline here that traffic is a strongly time-variant process and it n ...

Recent advances in the probe vehicle deployment offer an innovative prospect for research in arterial travel time estimation. Specifically, we focus on the estimation of probability distribution of arterial route travel time, which contains more informatio ...

In the era of big data, new transportation-related concepts and methodologies need to be proposed to understand how congestion propagates. pNEUMA, a unique dataset that was acquired during a first-of-its-kind experiment using a swarm of drones over a dense ...

Most perimeter control methods in literature are the model-based schemes designing the controller based on the available accurate macroscopic fundamental diagram (MFD) function with well known techniques of modern control methods. However, accurate modelin ...

The Songdo Traffic dataset delivers precisely georeferenced vehicle trajectories captured through high-altitude bird's-eye view (BeV) drone footage over Songdo International Business District, South Korea. Comprising approximately 700,000 unique trajectori ...

This paper proposes an integrated methodological framework to design a spatially heterogeneous bus route network and time-dependent service headways to serve travel demand that varies over time and space. Travelers choose to use either the transit mode or ...

Due to the complexity of the traffic flow dynamics in urban road networks, most quantitative descriptions of city traffic so far have been based on computer simulations. This contribution pursues a macroscopic (fluid-dynamic) simulation approach, which fac ...

A field experiment in Yokohama (japan) revealed that a macroscopic fundamental diagram (MFD) linking space-mean flow, density and speed exists on a large urban area. It was observed that when the highly scattered plots of flow vs. density from individual f ...

The Songdo Vision dataset provides high-resolution (4K, 3840×2160 pixels) RGB images annotated with categorized axis-aligned bounding boxes (BBs) for vehicle detection from a high-altitude bird’s-eye view (BeV) perspective. Captured over Songdo Internation ...

Electric vehicle-sharing systems have been introduced to a number of cities as a means of increasing mobility, reducing congestion, and pollution. Electric vehicle-sharing systems can offer one or two-way services. One-way systems provide more flexibility ...

In the era of big data, new transportation-related concepts and methodologies need to be proposed for understanding how congestion propagates. pNEUMA, a unique dataset that was acquired during a first-of-its-kind experiment with a swarm of drones over a de ...

An accurate density monitoring along a stretch of a freeway, especially under congested time-variant conditions is necessary to evaluate congestion levels, understand complex traffic phenomena and develop efficient control strategies. In the first part of ...

City-scale control of urban road traffic poses a challenging problem. Dynamical models based on the macroscopic fundamental diagram (MFD) enable development of model predictive perimeter control methods for large-scale urban networks, representing an advan ...

In this paper, stability analysis of traffic control for two-region urban cities is treated. It is known in control theory that optimality does not imply stability. If the optimal control is applied in a heavily congested system with high demand, traffic c ...

The performance of ridesharing systems is intricately entwined with user participation. To characterize such interplay, we adopt a repeated multi-player, non-cooperative game approach to model a ridesharing platform and its users’ decision-making. Users re ...

The surge of Mobility on Demand (MoD) is largely attributed to advancements in mobile internet and technology. Ridesourcing platforms, among other solution services, offer convenience and flexibility when it comes to pick-up/drop-off time and location, all ...

In the Dial-a-Ride-Problem (DARP) a fleet of vehicles provide shared-ride services to users specifying their origin, destination, and preferred arrival time. In the dynamic version of the DARP, some trips are booked in advance while others come in real-tim ...

This paper investigates the equilibrium properties of the morning commute problem at the network level with heterogeneous trip lengths. Congestion is modeled with a Macroscopic Fundamental Diagram relating the space-mean speed of a network to the vehicular ...
