We detect by optical microscopy Au and fluorescent nanopartides (NPs) during their motion in water based medium, using an array of dielectric microspheres that are patterned in a microwell array template. The Microspheres act as lenses focusing the light o ...

A technique that allows direct optical imaging of nanostructures and determines quantitatively geometric nanofeatures beyond the classical diffraction limit by using high-refractive index glass microspheres is introduced. The glass microsphere is put on a ...

Dielectric microspheres with appropriate refractive index can image objects with super-resolution, that is, with a precision well beyond the classical diffraction limit. A microsphere is also known to generate upon illumination a photonic nanojet, which is ...

High-refractive index dielectric microspheres positioned within the field of view of a microscope objective in a dielectric medium can focus the light into a so-called photonic nanojet. A sample placed in such nanojet can be imaged by the objective with su ...

Determining the spatial organization and morphological characteristics of molecularly defined cell types is a major bottleneck for characterizing the architecture underpinning brain function. We developed Expansion Assisted Iterative Fluorescence In Situ H ...

We propose an original concept for a sandwich immunoassay that is completely performed on-chip using streptavidin-coated beads as substrate. The latter are electrostatically self-assembled on aminosilane micropatterns at the bottom of a microfluidic channe ...

We demonstrate a method to determine the Brownian motion and the diffusion coefficient of a nanoparticle in water in a plane that is parallel to a solid boundary and as function of the distance normal to that boundary by using an optical tweezers instrumen ...

We propose the use of a high-refractive index glass microsphere in combination with a conventional fluorescence microscope for imaging sub-cellular organelles and biomolecules. The microsphere is placed on a sample that is immersed in water, collects the n ...

Nano-objects (8) with feature size smaller than the classical Abbe's diffraction limit can be optically detected via a microlens (4) array configured in a miniaturized microfluidic device. A hydrophilic microwell (3) array in a hydrophobic layer (2) is fir ...

A microfluidic device for protein preconcentration based on the electrokinetic trapping principle is proposed. It comprises a Nafion strip which is simply cut from a commercially available membrane and integrated into a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microflu ...

We performed a direct immunoassay inside a microfluidic channel on patterned streptavidin-coated beads, which captured fluorescently-labeled biotin target molecules from a continuous flow. We arranged the beads in a dot array at the bottom of the channel a ...

Self-assembled dielectric microlenses are used for focusing of the fluorescent signal emitted from a surface-based immunoassay, performed on silane micropatterns as assay substrates, to enhance the detection signal. In our model system, a fluorescent immun ...

We propose a concept for enhancing the fluorescent detection signal of on-chip immunoassays by using three-dimensional 3 and 8 mu m size microtextured structures as substrates for the assay, which allows exploitation of a large number of fluorophores withi ...
