Federico MatteiniFederico pursued his Bachelor in Material Science at Universita' di Genova (Italy) in 2009. He spent one year at the Dublin Institute of Technology (Ireland), as exchange student in the frame of the EU Erasmus Lifelong Learning Programme.
In 2011 he obtained a Master degree in Chemical Engineering as a joint study agreement between
Universita' di Bologna (Italy), Universidad Politecnica de Valencia (Spain) and KTH Stokholm (Sweden), in the frame of the Erasmus Mundus Master Courses (IMMSSET).
He carried on his master thesiss project at Rice University (Houston, Texas).
After a short period as intern at DSM Material Science Center (the Netherlands), he joined the Laboratory of Semiconductor Materials of Prof. Fontcuberta i Morral at EPFL (Switzerland).
During his PhD he was awarded of a DocMobility grant to pursue his research at MIT, in the lab of Prof. W.C. Carter.
Graduated in 2016, he moved to fastree3D (3D vision startup) as product marketing manager to define target markets, associated strategy and positioning.
In 2018 he joined the large enterprises team at the Vice Presidency for Innovation as business developer.

Sophia HaussenerSophia Haussener is an Associate Professor heading the Laboratory of Renewable Energy Science and Engineering at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Her current research is focused on providing design guidelines for thermal, thermochemical, and photoelectrochemical energy conversion reactors through multi-physics modeling. Her research interests include: thermal sciences, fluid dynamics, charge transfer, electro-magnetism, and thermo/electro/photochemistry in complex multi-phase media on multiple scales. She received her MSc (2007) and PhD (2010) in Mechanical Engineering from ETH Zurich. Between 2011 and 2012, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Joint Center of Artificial Photosynthesis (JCAP) and the Energy Environmental Technology Division of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). She has published over 70 articles in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. She has been awarded the ETH medal (2011), the Dimitris N. Chorafas Foundation award (2011), the ABB Forschungspreis (2012), the Prix Zonta (2015), the Global Change Award (2017), and the Raymond Viskanta Award (2019), and is a recipient of a Starting Grant of the Swiss National Science Foundation (2014). She is a deputy leader in the Swiss Competence Center for Energy Research (SCCER) on energy storage and acts as a Member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Helmholtz Zentrum.
Farzan JazaeriFarzan Jazaeri received his M.Sc. degree in 2009 from University of Tehran and his Ph.D. in electronic engineering from EPFL in 2015. He has been serving as Research Scientist at EPFL since 2015 and Senior RD Semiconductor Device Engineer in the Swatch Company since 2019.He is a recipient of the 2018 Electron Devices Society George E. Smith Award, the best talk award from MIXDES 2019 and the best paper awards from ESSDERC2018 and ESSDERC2019, and several other academic awards. He is also awarded an advanced Swiss National Science Foundation grant for two years fellowship in MIT and NASA. His doctoral thesis was recognized to be eligible for the IBM award in 2017. Dr. Jazaeri is currently research scientist and project leader in high level of international scientific collaborative activities at EPFL. His research activities on solid-state physics are focused on creation of the cryogenic temperature infrastructure necessary to operate the qubits for quantum computations(MOSQUITO), radiation-induced damages in advanced devices for the future high energy physics experiments at CERN (GigaRadMOST), Pinned Photodiodes for CIS, and modeling and characterization AlGaN-GaN heterostructure in collaboration with IMEC. Together with Dr. Sallese, he is the lead developer of EPFL HEMT MODEL for GaN HEMTs. He fully developed a new model (EPFL-JL Model) for the so-called nanowire FETs and was invited by Cambridge University Press to write a book on junctionless nanowire FETs, emerging nanoelectronic devices, already published since 2018. He serves as lead editor and reviewer for several scientific journals. He has been an invited keynote speaker at several international conferences and events. He is invited to MIXDES 2019 as a keynote speaker to address quantum bits and quantum computing architecture. From Jun 2009 to February 2010, he worked on designing and implementing SD/HD broadcast systems with SAMIM-RAYANEH Co., Tehran, Iran.
