Federico MatteiniFederico pursued his Bachelor in Material Science at Universita' di Genova (Italy) in 2009. He spent one year at the Dublin Institute of Technology (Ireland), as exchange student in the frame of the EU Erasmus Lifelong Learning Programme.
In 2011 he obtained a Master degree in Chemical Engineering as a joint study agreement between
Universita' di Bologna (Italy), Universidad Politecnica de Valencia (Spain) and KTH Stokholm (Sweden), in the frame of the Erasmus Mundus Master Courses (IMMSSET).
He carried on his master thesiss project at Rice University (Houston, Texas).
After a short period as intern at DSM Material Science Center (the Netherlands), he joined the Laboratory of Semiconductor Materials of Prof. Fontcuberta i Morral at EPFL (Switzerland).
During his PhD he was awarded of a DocMobility grant to pursue his research at MIT, in the lab of Prof. W.C. Carter.
Graduated in 2016, he moved to fastree3D (3D vision startup) as product marketing manager to define target markets, associated strategy and positioning.
In 2018 he joined the large enterprises team at the Vice Presidency for Innovation as business developer.

Xun LiaoI'm a LCA sustainability consultant, focusing on R&D and applications of integrating LCA with traditional corporate ESG reporting and management, as well as bridging the gap between LCA, Supply chain management (SCM) , risk assessment and business sustainability investment and decision-making.
As a Marie Curie PhD fellow in EPFL, I'm working on sustainability (social/economic/environmental) assessment, design and optimization of different biorefinery concepts.
As a sustainability consultant, I'm researching and developing methodologies and tools for the following field:
- Corporate ESG and sustainability investment
-Assess and manage GHG emissions, Water and land, renewable energy, human health, Biodiversity, social issues
-Materiality, CDP report, GRI and other reporting initiatives
-Competitive advantage through investment in sustainability (ESG) programs
- Strategy, Supply chain management and risk assessment within the framework of Life Cycle thinking
-
Commodity, Supply chain, Operational risks due to regulatory, physical factors.
-
Life cycle costing
-
Risk assessment
-
Integration of assessment, optimization and management of supply chain, downstream and corporate operational data
I have many years experience in life cycle assessment, with expertise in water database modeling and assessment, energy analysis and life cycle inventory modeling. Worked with various industries, including energy, agri-food, packaging, tire, oil & gas, semi-conductor, pet food, pharmaceutical and textile sectors, for clients such as World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Mondelez, Kraft Foods, Nestlé, Michelin, Bayer, Pfizer, Huntsman, GE, Intel, and many others. (valedictorian) in electrical engineering from Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, in 1999 and the Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA in 2005. He was a Research Scientist with the University of Maryland, College Park from 2006-2007 and also with Rice University in Houston, TX, from 2008-2009. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne and a Faculty Fellow in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Rice University. His research interests include machine learning, signal processing theory, optimization theory and methods, and information theory. Dr. Cevher is an ELLIS fellow and was the recipient of the Google Faculty Research award in 2018, the IEEE Signal Processing Society Best Paper Award in 2016, a Best Paper Award at CAMSAP in 2015, a Best Paper Award at SPARS in 2009, and an ERC CG in 2016 as well as an ERC StG in 2011.
Francesco StellacciFrancesco Stellacci graduated in Materials Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano in 1998 with a thesis on photochromic polymers with Prof. Giuseppe Zerbi and Mariacarla Gallazzi. In 1999 he moved to the Chemistry Department of the University of Arizona for as a post-doc in the group of Joe Perry in close collaboration with the group of Seth Marder. In 2002 he moved to the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as an assistant professor. He was then promoted to associate without (2006) and with tenure (2009). In 2010 he moved to the Institute of Materials at EPFL as a full Professor. He holds the Alcan EP Chair. Francesco was one of the recipients of the Technology Review TR35 "35 Innovator under 35" award in 2005, and the Popular Science Magazine "Brilliant 10" award in 2007. He has been a Packard Fellow starting 2005.
