A generic method for the reverse processing of dry photoresist is proposed. The technique is based on the lamination of pre-patterned polymeric structures on the pre-existing devices. The concept is illustrated with the encapsulation at the foil level of g ...

This paper presents a novel approach for the fabrication of miniaturized and fully printed metal-oxide (MOX) gas sensors on a polyimide (PI) substrate by using digital manufacturing of the functional layers, namely aerosol jet and inkjet printing technolog ...

Organic electrochemical transistors are emerging as prominent biochemical sensors for multi-sensing, including ions, metabolites, hormones, or viruses. However, the implementation of the devices is mainly limited to a single-analyte detection and a single- ...

In recent years, wearable epidermal sweat sensors have received extensive attention owing to their great potential to provide personalized information on the health status of individuals at the molecular level. For on‐demand medical analysis of sweat in se ...

The shifting paradigm in clinical practice to remote healthcare underscores the need to develop novel biosensing modalities to rapidly and continuously assess digital and metabolic biomarkers. Sweat is a rich, heterogeneous biofluid that provides broad ins ...

Sweat secreted by the human eccrine sweat glands can provide valuable biomarker information during exercise. Real-time non-invasive biomarker recordings are therefore useful for evaluating the physiological conditions of an athlete such as their hydration ...

An experimental thermal characterization method is developed for high thermal conductivity thin films. The method utilizes Ta/Pt resistors on microfabricated free-standing thin film structures both for heating and temperature monitoring at different positi ...

Monitoring the temperature of perishable goods during transport and storage is essential to prevent waste and maintain product quality. Exploiting the unique property of phase-change materials (PCM), altering their physical state at specific temperatures, ...

This paper presents the fabrication and characterization of multilayer PVDF resonant micro-vibrational energy harvesters designed to withstand environments in which high levels of acceleration are present. The multilayer cantilevers are fabricated by combi ...

We demonstrate fully inkjet-printed graphene-gated organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) on polymeric foil for the enzymatic-based biosensing of glucose. The graphene-gated transistors exhibit better linearity, repeatability, and sensitivity than the ...

We report a novel biodegradable piezoelectric composite fabricated from paper and the piezoelectric salt, sodium potassium tartrate tetrahydrate (Rochelle salt, which we term PiezoSalt). The piezoelectric composite is non-toxic and is fabricated free of en ...

We present a cryogenic system design and development for ice lithography. The cryo-stage is designed with embedded channels to allow direct liquid nitrogen flow, enabling fast cryogenic cooling, and low sample temperature. The stage cools down to 78.8 K in ...

A tin dioxide (SnO2) sensor was fabricated by inkjet printing onto polyimide foil. Gold electrodes and heater were printed on each side of the substrate. A SnO2 based ink was developed by sol-gel method and jetted onto the electrodes. A final annealing at ...

This paper presents the design and development of a coplanar capacitive proximity sensor for the detection of the gap between the edges of dielectric foils. The finite element analysis is applied to study the design of the sensor by investigating the effec ...

Recent advances in 3D printing techniques are allowing for new ways to manufacture sensors with materials and geometries previously not exploited. In this work we present a fabrication approach for fully 3D printed soft mechanical pressure sensors, as well ...

We propose an autonomous battery-less wireless sensor node that combines on a single printed circuit board an ultra-wideband (UWB) transmitter and its printed antenna, together with a piezoelectric cantilever and a solar cell array to harvest vibrations an ...

The global overabundance of electronic waste and ever-increasing concerns regarding the energy-and material-intensive manufacturing processes associated with traditional electronics are driving the development of solution-processed, degradable electronics. ...

A high‐voltage flip‐flop combining two self‐powered soft sensors with a flexible high‐voltage thin film transistor (HVTFT) is reported, and is used to electrically latch dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) in zero and high‐strain states. Two touch‐actuat ...

In this paper, we present a compact, wearable piezoelectric on-body harvesting system that uses a small eccentric mass from a common watch movement to mechanically deflect a set of micromachined piezoelectric cantilevers when excited by the low frequency m ...

The scanning thermal microscope (SThM) has become a versatile tool for local surface temperature mapping or measuring thermal properties of solid materials. In this article, we present recent improvements in a SThM system, based on a micro-wire thermocoupl ...
