Humidity is one of the most relevant physical parameters to sense and control for a wide range of commercial and industrial applications. Consequently, there is continuing demand for the development of innovative and sustainable humidity sensor solutions. ...

Closed-loop neural implants based on continuous brain activity recording and intracortical microstimulation are extremely effective and promising devices to monitor and address many neurodegenerative diseases. The efficiency of these devices depends on the ...

Monitoring humidity and temperature in silicon-based high-energy physics (HEP) detectors is indispensable but challenging due to space restrictions, radiation, sub-zero temperatures, and strong magnetic fields. This manuscript presents humidity and tempera ...

Over the past decade, significant advancements have been made in the study of silicon nanowires (SiNWs). These nanoscaled devices can exhibit a memristive type of hysteresis in the current/voltage (I/V) plane that has been utilized in the biosensors leadin ...

Permissible limits of Pb 2+ in drinking water are being reduced from 10 mu gL -1 to 5 mu gL -1 , which calls for rapid, and highly reliable detection techniques. Electrochemical sensors have garnered attention in detection of heavy metal ions in environmen ...

One paramount challenge in multi-ion-sensing arises from ion interference that degrades the accuracy of sensor calibration. Machine learning models are here proposed to optimize such multivariate calibration. However, the acquisition of big experimental da ...

In this letter, we present a custom-designed and flexible readout circuitry for the characterization of flexible and planar electrolyte-gated carbon nanotube field-effect transistor-based biosensors for ammonium detection in sweat. We employed spray-deposi ...

The great interest in portable and wearable monitoring systems has promoted in recent years a major expansion of all-solid-state Ion-Selective Electrodes (ISEs). Nanostructured Solid-Contacts (SCs) have shown a promising potential in order to eliminate the ...

Ion-sensors play a major role in physiology and healthcare monitoring since they are capable of continuously collecting biological data from body fluids. Nevertheless, ion interference from background electrolytes present in the sample is a paramount chall ...

It has been already proved that electrical capacitance increases at the electrode surface due to binding of highly charged antigens on the biointerface. In this paper, this capacitance change was used to demonstrate a novel detection for cardiac troponin I ...

This work presents the concept of a battery-free, sticker-like, device for a non-invasive health-monitoring sensor. The device consists of two functional blocks: an optical power-transfer block and an amperometric measurement block. The former accumulates ...

Biosensing for chronic pathologies requires the simultaneous monitoring of different parameters such as drug concentrations, inflammation status, temperature and pH. In this paper we discuss the design, fabrication and test of a sensor array hosting five b ...

This paper is concerned with an investigation of electron transfer between cytochrome P450scc (CYP11A1) immobilized on nanostructured rhodium-graphite electrodes. Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) were deposited onto the rhodium-graphite electrodes by ...

Truly wearable, fully flexible, and multiparametric sweat analysis with soft and socially discrete packaging offers tremendous potential to enable the next generation of noninvasive digital biomarkers analysis. Several examples of miniaturized potentiometr ...

State-of-the-art techniques for measuring and monitoring gene level expression rely on messenger RNA (mRNA) extraction and quantification, usually based on the concept of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. In this paper, we take adva ...

Integrated bio/nano/Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) interfaces for electrochemical molecular sensing are becoming more and more common in the literature, especially for developing new electronic biochips for smart and intelligent Internet-of ...

Label-free biosensors, combined with miniaturized micro-electromechanical sensory platforms, offer an attractive solution for real-time and facile monitoring of biomolecules due to their high sensitivity and selectivity without the need for specifically la ...

In 2006, the group of Dr C.M. Lieber pioneered the field of nanowire sensors by fabricating devices for the ultra-sensitive label-free detection of biological macromolecules. Since then, nanowire sensors have demonstrated their ability to detect cancer-ass ...

In this study, we explored the effect of Cr³⁺ substitution by partially and fully replacing Fe³⁺ in the normal spinel ZnFe₂O₄ crystal structure at electrochemical interfaces. The resulting ZnCrₓFe₂₋ₓO₄ nanomaterials exhibited an average particle size betwe ...

Lateral flow immunoassays (LFIAs) were integrated into microfluidic chips and tested to enhance point-of-care testing (POCT), with the aim of improving sensitivity and expanding the range of CRP detection. The microfluidic approach improves upon traditiona ...
