Integrated flow cell array (FCA) is an emerging technology, targeting the cooling and power delivery challenges of modern 2D/3D Multi-Processor Systems-on-Chip (MPSoCs). In FCA, electrolytic solutions are pumped through microchannels etched in the silicon ...

Edge-computing requires high-performance energy-efficient embedded systems. Fixed-function or custom accelerators, such as FFT or FIR filter engines, are very efficient at implementing a particular functionality for a given set of constraints. However, the ...

Objective: Continuous monitoring of biosignals via wearable sensors has quickly expanded in the medical and wellness fields. At rest, automatic detection of vital parameters is generally accurate. However, in conditions such as high-intensity exercise, sud ...

Flow cell arrays (FCAs) concurrently provide efficient on-chip liquid cooling and electrochemical power generation. This technology is especially promising for three-dimensional multi-processor systems-on-chip (3D MPSoCs) realized in deeply scaled technolo ...

With the growing complexity in consumer embedded products and the improvements in process technology, Multi-Processor System-On-Chip (MPSoC) architectures have become widespread. These new systems are very complex to design as they must execute multiple co ...

Thermal balancing and reducing hot-spots are two important challenges facing the MPSoC designers. In this work, we model the thermal behavior of a MPSoC as a control theory problem which enables the design of an optimum frequency controller without dependi ...

Monitoring stress and, in general, emotions has attracted a lot of attention over the past few decades. Stress monitoring has many applications, including high-risk missions and surgical procedures as well as mental/emotional health monitoring. In this pap ...

The objective of this work is the evaluation of how sex, age and the kind of followed treatment affect weight loss, as well as the development of an explanation to assess the evolution of weight loss dynamics in overweight men and women. The methods use in ...

Integrated Flow-Cell Arrays (FCAs) represent a combination of integrated liquid cooling and on-chip power generation, converting chemical energy of the flowing electrolyte solutions to electrical energy. The FCA technology provides a promising way to addre ...

To respond to variations in solar energy, harvestedenergy prediction is essential to harvested-energy management approaches. The effectiveness of such approaches is dependent on both the achievable accuracy and computation overhead of prediction algorithm ...

Recent years have seen growing interest in leveraging deep learning models for monitoring epilepsy patients based on electroencephalographic (EEG) signals. However, these approaches often exhibit poor generalization when applied outside of the setting in w ...

In federated learning systems, the unexpected quitting of participants is inevitable. Such quittings generally do not incur serious consequences in horizontal federated learning (HFL), but they do damage to vertical federated learning (VFL), which has been ...

This study presents a single-core and a multi-core processor architecture for health monitoring systems where slow biosignal events and highly parallel computations exist. The single-core architecture is composed of a processing core (PC), an instruction m ...

A system for measuring blood pressure of a user that comprises an ElectroCardioGram (ECG) circuit with at least two ECG electrodes configured to obtain an electrical activity of a heart of the user by measuring the electrical signals detected at the at lea ...

Objective: Cognitive workload monitoring (CWM) can enhance human-machine interaction by supporting task execution assistance considering the operator’s cognitive state. Therefore, we propose a machine learning design methodology and a data processing strat ...

Epilepsy affects more than 50 million people and ranks among the most common neurological diseases worldwide. Despite advances in treatment, one-third of patients still suffer from refractory epilepsy. Wearable devices for real-time patient monitoring can ...

Recently, it was demonstrated that the polarity of carbon nanotube field effect transistors can be electrically controlled. In this paper we show how Programmable Logic Arrays (PLA) can be built out of these devices, and we illustrate how they outperform u ...

Multi-Processor Systems-on-Chip (MPSoCs) are penetrating the electronics market as a powerful, yet commercially viable, solution to answer the strong and steadily growing demand for scalable and high performance systems, at limited design complexity. Howev ...

Numerous Directed-Acyclic Graph (DAG) schedulers have been developed to improve the energy efficiency of various multi-core systems. However, the DAG monitoring modules proposed by these schedulers make a priori assumptions about the workload and relations ...

The integration of information technologies into medical systems has led to an increase in digitalization, which results in enormous possibilities, but also challenges in system development. The ever-growing complexity of modern medical devices (MD) requir ...
