Structural studies of substituted 1,3,5-benzenetrisamides, a new family of highly versatile and efficient nucleating and clarifying agents for polymeric materials, are reported. Subtle details of the molecular structure of these species are shown to have a ...

The incommensurately modulated scheelite-like KSm(MoO4)2 structure has been refined in the monoclinic superspace group I2/b(ab0)00 by the Rietveld method on the basis of synchrotron radiation powder diffraction data. The systematic broadening of satellite ...

We use thermal diffuse scattering of x rays to visualize the lens-shaped portions of the Fermi surface in metallic zinc. Our interpretation of the nature of the observed scattered intensity anomalies is supported by the incorporation of inelastic x-ray sca ...

The preparation of single crystals suitable for X-ray analysis is frequently the most difficult step in structural studies of proteins. With the aid of two examples, it is shown that de novo solution of the crystallographic phase problem can be achieved at l ...

The experimental electron density obtained from a multipole refinement of the synchrotron X-ray data for the title complex, together with theoretical ab initio calculations of the electron density at the molecular geometry obtained from neutron diffraction ...

Since the discovery of charge disproportionation in the FeO2 square-lattice compound Sr3Fe2O7 by Mossbauer spectroscopy more than fifty years ago, the spatial ordering pattern of the disproportionated charges has remained "hidden" to conventional diffracti ...

Radiation damage in macromolecular crystals is not suppressed even at 90 K. This is particularly true for covalent bonds involving an anomalous scatterer (such as bromine) at the `peak wavelength'. It is shown that a series of absorption spectra recorded o ...

A detailed synchrotron X-ray diffraction (XRD) study performed with a single crystal of BaVS3 (barium vanadium trisulfide) in the temperature range between 10 and 295 K is reported. Aside from the known tetragonal–orthorhombic (240 K) and orthorhombic–mono ...

Thermal evolution of an organic ferroelectric, namely, glycinium phosphite, was probed by multi-temperature single-crystal diffraction using synchrotron radiation and also by a similar experiment with a laboratory X-ray diffractometer. Both series of measu ...

The crystal structures of silver(I) sulphate, Ag2SO4, have been investigated as a function of temperature. A main feature is the phase transition from the low-temperature ordered phase, F ddd, to the high-temperature disordered phase, P63/mmc. In particula ...

The syntheses, crystal structures, and adsorption/desorption properties of two novel chiral three-dimensional cyano-bridged bimetallic assemblies, {[Cu(1R,2Rchxn)2]2[Ru(CN)6]·6H2O}∞ (1) and {[Cu(1R,2Rchxn)2]12[Ru(CN)6]6·26H2O}∞ (2) (where 1R,2Rchxn = trans ...

Competing Jahn-Teller distortions combined with geometrical frustration give rise to a rich phase diagram as a function of x(Cu) and temperature in the spinel system Ni1-xCuxCr2O4. The Jahn-Teller distortion of the end members acts in opposite ways, with a ...

Unsymmetrical cationic [4] helicenes react with hydride or organolithium reagents and the two diastereotopic faces can be discriminated with high efficiency (dr up to and higher than 49 : 1) ...

Praseodymium molybdate Pr2(MoO4)3 was synthesized using the standard ceramic route. The crystal structure of the material has been successfully solved in superspace group I2/b(Rβ0)00 with lattice constants a = 5.30284(4), b = 5.32699(3), c = 11.7935(1)A° , ...

The previously proposed model postulating that the incommensurately modulated KNd(MoO

Using a combination of single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction measurements, we study temperature- and pressure-driven structural distortions in zinc(II) cyanide (Zn(CN)(2)) and cadmium(II) imidazolate (Cd(im)(2)), two molecular frameworks with the ant ...

A new target in AIDS therapy development is HIV-1 integrase (IN). It was proven that HIV-1 IN required divalent metal cations to achieve phosphodiester bond cleavage of DNA. Accordingly, all newly investigated potent IN inhibitors contain chemical fragment ...

Following the seminal work of Von Dreele, high quality powder X-ray diffraction studies on proteins are being established as a valuable complementary technique to single-crystal measurements. Several studies using a variety of experiments approaches have b ...

The hydrothermal synthesis and structural characterization of the lanthanide silicate system [Na6Ln2Si12O30x H2O] (Ln=La3+, Sm3+, Eu3+, Gd3+, and Tb3+), named AV-21, has been reported. Structural elucidation of the Sm3+ analogue (isomorphous with the Eu3+, ...

The combination of tripyridyl ligands and linear diboronate esters results in the formation of oligomeric or polymeric adducts featuring dative boron−nitrogen bonds. The relative orientation of the two different building blocks in the assemblies can be pre ...
