Two-dimensional semiconducting materials of the transition-metal-dichalcogenide family, such as MoS2 and WSe2, have been intensively investigated in the past few years, and are considered as viable candidates for next-generation elect ...

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) improve the sensitivity of electrochemical biosensors. An optimized CNT/trasducer inte- gration is required to realize accurate devices. The nanotube orientation on the sensor electrode is a key parameter. The role of the sidewalls ...

Emerging Non-Volatile Memories (eNVMs) such as Phase-Change RAMs (PCRAMs) or Oxide-based Resistive RAMs (OxRRAMs) are promising candidates to replace Flash and Static Random Access Memories in many applications. This paper introduces a novel set of buildin ...

This paper presents a new VHDL-AMS behavioral model of an electrochemical cell suitable for the design of VLSI bio-chips. Existing models are mainly equivalent circuit macromodels using electrical primitives, which hardly fit the actual behavior of biosens ...

The integration of nanoscale sensors with microfluidic platforms is a powerful tool for the design of robust biosensing devices that present high reliability and the advantage of a quick data acquisition. In addition, microfluidic based lab-on-a-chip senso ...

This work presents the co-integration of resistive random access memory crossbars within a 180nm Read-Write CMOS chip. TaOx-based ReRAMs have been fabricated and characterized with materials and process steps compatible with the CMOS Back-End-of ...

Silicon nanowire transistors with Schottky-barrier contacts exhibit both n-type and p-type characteristics under different bias conditions. Polarity controllability of silicon nanowire transistors has been further demonstrated by using an additional polari ...

With the growing complexity in consumer embedded products and the improvements in process technology, Multi-Processor System-On-Chip (MPSoC) architectures have become widespread. These new systems are very complex to design as they must execute multiple co ...

Thermal balancing and reducing hot-spots are two important challenges facing the MPSoC designers. In this work, we model the thermal behavior of a MPSoC as a control theory problem which enables the design of an optimum frequency controller without dependi ...

We present a Boolean logic optimization framework based on Majority-Inverter Graph (MIG). An MIG is a directed acyclic graph consisting of three-input majority nodes and regular/complemented edges. Current MIG optimization is supported by a consistent alge ...

SAT based exact synthesis is a powerful technique, with applications in logic optimization, technology mapping, and synthesis for emerging technologies. However, its runtime behavior can be unpredictable and slow. In this paper, we propose to add a new typ ...

For more than four decades, Complementary Metal-Oxide- Semiconductor (CMOS) Field Effect Transistors (FETs) have been the baseline technology for implementing digital computation systems. CMOS transistors natively implement Not-AND ...

The performance of some emerging nanotechnolo- gies benefits from wave pipelining. The design of such circuits re- quires new models and algorithms. Thus we show how Majority- Inverter Graphs (MIG) can be used for this purpose and we extend the related opt ...

Sequential circuits are combinational circuits that are separated by registers. Retiming is considered as the most promising technique for optimizing sequential circuits, that involves moving the edge-triggered registers across the combinational logic with ...

Typical operators for the decomposition of Boolean functions in state-of-the-art algorithms are AND, exclusive-OR (XOR), and a 2-to-1 multiplexer (MUX). We propose a logic decomposition algorithm that uses the majority-of-three (MAJ) operation. Such decomp ...

Reversible circuits implement invertible logic functions. They are of great interest to cryptography, coding theory, interconnect design, computer graphics, quantum computing, and many other fields. As for conventional circuits, checking the combinational ...

Sequential logic synthesis expands the solution space compared to combinational logic synthesis by reasoning about the reachable states of memory elements, leading to better Power-Performance-Area (PPA) outcomes. As gate costs continue to rise in advanced ...

The IronIC project has the aim of developing a fully implantable and remotely powered platform for the real- time monitoring of human metabolites. In this paper we present a mixed-signal interface IC for the electrochemical sensing data acquisition chain. ...

Resistive memories have gained high research attention for enabling design of in-memory computing circuits and systems. We propose for the first time an automatic compilation methodology suited to a recently proposed computer architecture solely based on r ...

Co-clustering has not been much exploited in biomedical in- formatics, despite its success in other domains. Most of the previous applications were limited to analyzing gene expression data. We performed co-clustering analysis on other types of data and ob ...
