Electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements on SWCNTs doped with alkali atoms (potassium) using a solid state reaction is reported. We find the emergence of the ESR signal of itinerant electrons upon doping with a signal intensity that is comparable to that ...

Dinuclear clathrochelate complexes with two, three, four, or five cyano groups in the ligand periphery were prepared following two distinct synthetic strategies: (a) zinc(II)- or cobalt(II)-templated polycondensation reactions of CN-functionalized arylboro ...

Gd3N@C-80 endohedral fullerene, a starting material for a potential magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent, is investigated by high-frequency electron spin resonance (ESR) and SQUID magnetometry. The magnetic moments of the three Gd ions of the endohedr ...

An efficient route to synthesize macroscopic amounts of graphene is highly desired and bulk characterization of such samples, in terms of the number of layers, is equally important. We present a Raman spectroscopy-based method to determine the typical uppe ...

A highly stable nanocomposite of antioxidant activity was developed by immobilization of a superoxide dismutase-mimicking metal complex on copolymer-functionalized nanoclay. The layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanoclays were synthesized and surface modifica ...

We report new results on the electron spin resonance of single walled carbon nanotubes, peapods and double walled carbon nanotubes. A small ESR line is present in well purified samples and its temperature dependence reveals a striking 'super-Curie' paramag ...

We report a combined polarized and unpolarized neutron diffraction study on a multiferroic Sr2CoSi2O7 (SCSO) single crystal below and above the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature TN = 6.5 K. Unpolarized neutron diffraction measurements at 15 K confirm ...

We report a novel synthesis route of homogeneously manganese-doped TiO2 nanotubes in a broad concentration range. The scroll-type trititanate (H2Ti3O7) nanotubes prepared by hydrothermal synthesis were used as precursors. Mn2+ ions were introduced by an io ...

We report a detailed spectroscopic study of Ti3+ self-doped TiO2 nanowires prepared by high temperature annealing of the protonated titanate nanowires (TiONW) in hydrogen atmosphere. Hydrogenation causes a color change from white to cyan and a major increa ...

Recent interest in potassium-doped p-terphenyl has been fueled by reports of superconductivity at T-c values surprisingly high for organic compounds. Despite these interesting properties, studies of the structure-function relationships within these materia ...

We report resistivity, thermoelectric power, and thermal conductivity of MoS2 single crystals prepared by the chemical vapor transport (CVT) method using I-2, Br-2, and TeCl4 as transport agents. The material presents low-lying donor and acceptor levels, w ...

We studied the temperature stability of the endohedral fullerene molecule N@C-60 inside single-wall carbon nanotubes using electron-spin-resonance spectroscopy. We found that the nitrogen escapes at higher temperatures in the encapsulated material as compa ...

The present invention concerns a magnetic-photoconductive material including orientable magnetic moments or spins, the material being configured to generate photo-carriers permitting to orientate or re-orientate the magnetic moments or spins at a material ...

C59N magnetic fullerenes were formed inside single-wall carbon nanotubes by vacuum annealing functionalized C59N molecules encapsulated inside the tubes. A hindered, anisotropic rotation of C59N was deduced from the temperature dependence of the electron s ...

We report on the mechanical properties of CH3NH3PbI3 photovoltaic perovskite measured by nanoindentation. The Young's modulus (E) of the pristine sample is 20.0 +/- 1.5GPa, while the hardness (H) is 1.0 +/- 0.1GPa. Upon extended exposure to water vapor, bo ...

We report on the temperature stability of N@C-60 peapods using electron spin resonance. The atomic nitrogen escapes at higher temperatures in the peapod than in the crystalline form. We also report on the synthesis of novel magnetic fullerene peapod, a ful ...

C59N magnetic fullerenes inside single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are used to probe the density of states (DOS) on the host tubes using electron spin resonance (ESR). The C59N radicals are separated by C60 fullerenes to prevent dimerization and C59N-C6 ...

We observe the electron spin resonance of conduction electrons in boron-doped (6400 ppm) superconducting diamond (T-c = 3.8 K). We clearly identify the benchmarks of conduction electron spin resonance (CESR): the nearly temperature independent electron spi ...
