Electronic and magnetic properties of quasi-one dimensional ormore widely low-dimensional systems aswell as their related correlated electron phenomena have been at the very frontier of condensed matter physics for quite some time. The reduced dimensionali ...

We report on the synthesis, the layered triclinic P (1) over bar crystal structure, band structure and Fermi surface analysis and preliminary transport and ESR data of beta-(EDT-TTF-I-2)(2)((1+x)center dot+)HO2C-CH=CH-CO2--O2C-CH=CH-CO2-, a m ...

Interest in fast and easy detection of high-energy radiation (x-, gamma-rays and neutrons) is closely related to numerous practical applications ranging from biomedicine and industry to homeland security issues. In this regard, crystals of hybrid halide pe ...

The radical cation salt, ET2MnCuN(CN)(2), [ET=bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene] with an unusual three-dimensional anionic polymeric network is studied by x-ray diffraction, static susceptibility measurements, and electron spin resonance (ESR) at ...

The electron spin lifetime in an assembly of chemically synthesized graphene sheets was found to be extremely sensitive to oxygen. Introducing small concentrations of physisorbed O-2 onto the graphene surface reduced the exceptionally long 140 ns electron ...

Based on the reported ion migration under an electric field in hybrid lead halide perovskites we have developed a bright, light-emitting electrochemical cell with CH3NH3PbBr3 single crystals directly grown on vertically aligned carbon nanotube forests as c ...

Detection and direct power conversion of high energy and high intensity ionizing radiation could be a key element in next generation nuclear reactor safety systems and space-born devices. For example, the Fukushima catastrophe in 2011 could have been large ...

The photovoltaic perovskite, methylammonium lead triiodide [CH3NH3PbI3 (MAPbI(3))], is one of the most efficient materials for solar energy conversion. Various kinds of chemical and physical modifications have been applied to MAPbI(3) towards better unders ...

A detailed investigation of Ba2MnGe2O7 was performed in its low-temperature magnetoelectric state combining neutron diffraction with magnetization measurements on single crystals. In the paramagnetic state at 10 K, polarized neutron diffraction was applied ...

Gamma-rays (gamma-rays), wherever present, e.g., in medicine, nuclear environment, or homeland security, due to their strong impact on biological matter, should be closely monitored. There is a need for simple, sensitive gamma-ray detectors at affordable p ...

Today's great challenges of energy and informational technologies are addressed with a singular compound, Li-and Na-doped few-layer graphene. All that is impossible for graphite (homogeneous and high-level Na doping) and unstable for single-layer graphene ...

Graphite has been intensively studied, yet its electron spins dynamics remains an unresolved problem even 70 years after the first experiments. The central quantities, the longitudinal (T-1) and transverse (T-2) relaxation times were postulated to be equal ...

Millimeter-sized cobalt doped rutile crystals with a bi-pyramidal shape are obtained by chemical vapour transport using scroll-type H2Ti3O7 nanotubes as a precursor in which Co2+ ions are introduced by a simple ion exchange method prior to the growth. Desp ...

The exotic properties of quantum spin liquids (QSLs) have continually been of interest since Anderson's 1973 ground-breaking idea. Geometrical frustration, quantum fluctuations, and low dimensionality are the most often evoked material's characteristics th ...

We present high frequency Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) results on a peapod sample. In a previous low frequency ESR study on peapods and double-walled nanotubes the observation of a non-Lorentzian line shape was reported. This effect was tentatively attrib ...

The demand for ever-increasing density of information storage and speed of manipulation boosts an intense search for new magnetic materials and novel ways of controlling the magnetic bit. Here, we report the synthesis of a ferromagnetic photovoltaic CH3NH3 ...

We report on magnetic fluctuations studied by electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy in the layered organic crystal ?-(BEDT-TTF)2Cu[N(CN)2]Cl. A line broadening above the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature, TN?=?23?K is attributed to two-dimensiona ...

Homogeneous Mn2+ and Gd3+ intercalation of scroll-type trititanate nanotubes using a post-synthesis ion exchange method is reported. Compared to Mn2+, Gd3+ ion-exchange shows larger saturation intercalation levels. Upon co-doping, weak interactions between ...

Here we report another surprising feature of the methylammonium metal halide material family, the phototunability of the diode response of a heterojunction made of CH3NH3PbI3 and its close relative, CH3NH3SnI3. In the dark state the device behaves as a dio ...

Alkali-intercalated graphite compounds represent a compelling modification of carbon with significant application potential and various fundamentally important phases. The intercalation of graphite with alkali atoms (Li and K) using liquid ammonia solution ...
