Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were successfully covered with metal oxides - such as TiO2, ZnO, Al2O3, SnO2, and In2O3 nanoparticles - with different preparation methods under solvent conditions. The applied synthesis techniques were impregnation, a ...

Dark blue single crystals of Al1.753+Ti1.04+Ti0.253+O5 were grown with a novel synthesis method based on the reaction of a Ti3+/Ti4+-containing langbeinite melt and porous alpha-alumina crucible. The obtained needles crystallize in the pseudobrookite struc ...

Local inversion symmetry breaking in centrosymmetric materials can lead to large spin polarization of the electronic band structure in separate sectors of the unit cell. Here, the authors reveal such hidden spin polarisation in ZrSiTe using spin and angle ...

The colloidal stability of dry and suspended carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in the presence of amphiphilic compounds (i.e. natural organic matter or surfactants) at environmentally realistic concentrations was investigated over several days. The suspensions were ...

Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were grown by chemical vapor deposition by applying C2H2 fluxed over Fe1-xCox catalyst supported by alkaline earth carbonate. Detailed investigations of the chemical process occurring prior and during the growth allowe ...

In this work we report a new class of ultra-thin film devices based on n-n van der Waals (vdW) heteroj unctions of MoS2 and VO2, which show remarkable tunable characteristics. The favorable band alignment combined with the sharp and clean vdW interface det ...

The helical magnetic structures of cubic chiral systems are well explained by the competition among Heisen-berg exchange, Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, cubic anisotropy, and anisotropic exchange interaction (AEI). Recently, the role of the latter has ...

Electrodeposited bismuth telluride (Bi2Te3) nanowires using anodic alumina (AAO) templates show anisotropic thermal properties in a direction parallel and perpendicular to the nanowire/nanochannel axis. The present study reports thermal diffusivity measure ...

Oxygen vacancies created in anatase TiO2 by UV photons (80–130 eV) provide an effective electron-doping mechanism and induce a hitherto unobserved dispersive metallic state. Angle resolved photoemission reveals that the quasiparticles are large polarons. T ...

Coupling of magnons with cavity photons at THz frequencies is reported in an antiferromagnet dysprosium ferrite (DyFeO3). ...

The present study reports on the synthesis of nanocrystalline (K-x,Na1-x)NbO3 powders prepared via microemulsion mediated hydrolytic decomposition of mixed alkoxide solutions. Compositions with different K/Na ratios ranging between the two end members KNbO ...

We have characterized the electrical conductivity of the composite which consists of multi-walled carbon nanotubes dispersed in SU8 epoxy resin. Depending on the processing conditions of the epoxy (ranging from non-polymerized to cross-linked), we obtained ...

The crystal structure of [ZnCl2(NH3)(2)], diamminedichloridozinc, was reinvestigated at low temperature, revealing the positions of the hydrogen atoms and thus a deeper insight into the hydrogen-bonding scheme in the crystal packing. In comparison with pre ...

We have performed electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements on a large assembly of graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (RGO) flakes. In GO samples the Curie tail is coming from 1.4 x 10(18) cm(-3) of localized spins. Although reduction of GO wa ...
