We present a comparative study of the ultrafast photophysics of all-trans retinal in the protonated Schiff base form in solvents with different polarities and viscosities. Steady-state spectra of retinal in the protonated Schiff base form show large absorp ...

Photo-induced excited-state reactions stand in the center of function of the photosensitive biological systems. These reactions can be accompanied by structural changes of the chromophore (for example isomerization) which are influenced by the nearest envi ...

Modulations in the time gated ultrafast fluorescence of the protonated Schiff base of retinal in various solvents are reported, which reflect the creation and evolution of vibrational wave packets due to the torsional mode of retinal of frequency .apprx.12 ...

We present a systematic study of the time-integrated fluorescence of native bacteriorhodopsin, as a function of excitation wavelength across the visible absorption band. While the fluorescence max. is unaffected, the spectrum broadens on the high-energy si ...

We present steady-state and broadband femtosecond fluorescence spectra of the protonated Schiff base of retinal in various protic and aprotic solvents, as a function of the excitation wavelength. A detailed spectral decomposition of the time-resolved fluor ...

Femtosecond photoluminescence (PL) up-conversion studies in polychromatic mode and laser-power-dependence studies of the PL were carried out on colloidal solutions of CdSe quantum dots with diameters ranging from 2.4 to 4 nm. The main features of the spect ...

We show a femtosecond fluorescence upconversion setup with broadband detection to measure time-resolved emission spectra in the 300-550 nm range, upon excitation between 250 and 300 nm, with a time resolution of 100 fs. We present time-resolved fluorescenc ...

Femtosecond fluorescence-upconversion studies of aq. [Ru(bpy)3]2+ show a short-lived vibrationally hot emission of the singlet metal-to-ligand charge-transfer state, with an ultrafast intersystem crossing (~ 10 fs) to the triplet state at const. energy (th ...
