The aim of this work is to understand the interactions and interphase formation mechanisms between a liquid aminosilane oligomer (γ -APS) and glass, steel or gold surfaces as a function of the pH of the liquid aminosilane. When basic liquid γ -APS (pH 11.4 ...

Aminosilane solutions with pH equal to 8 and to 11 were applied and cured on SiO2 coated poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) films. The permeability of the silane-silica hybrid coating on PET was reduced twofold compared to that of the SiO2/PET film, at sol ...

Time-resolved x-ray absorption experiments have been performed on shocked tantalum. Using a single 100 ps synchrotron x-ray pulse, nanosecond-lived equilibrium states of shocked solid Ta have been measured by L-3-edge absorption spectroscopy. The energy sh ...

Barrier film for encapsulation of oxygen and moisture sensitive devices comprising a base polymer substrate and applied onto the base substrate, a barrier layer comprising an inorganic coating deposited by a vapour deposition method, characterised in that ...

The aim of this study is to develop coatings on polymer substrates with a combined increase in oxygen barrier performance and toughness, based on SiOx coatings modified with multifunctional organo-silane polymers of controlled polarity and reactivity. As a ...

The practical adhesion of maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene (MAH-PE) to galvanised steel was studied using 3-point flexure tests, before and after hydrothermal ageing. Before bonding, the electro-galvanised steel was treated with γ -aminopropyltriethox ...

Epoxy-functionalised hyperbranched polymers (HBP) were combined with aminosilanes to form coatings and their effect on the practical adhesion between galvanised steel and polyethylene was investigated. It was shown that HBPs were initially soluble in silan ...

Ultra-thin (10–500 nm) photo-polymerized γ-methacryloxypropyltriethoxysilane (MPMS) and vinyltrimethoxysilane (VTS) layers applied to SiO2 coatings on polyethylene terephthalate films improved the oxygen barrier performance of the oxide coated films by mor ...

The oxygen transmission rate of 48 nm thick SiO2 coatings on a poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) substrate was reduced by a factor of three after applying an 8 nm thick layer of oligomerized gammaaminopropyltriethoxysilane (γ-APS). Increasing the thicknes ...
