Room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs), considered as "designers' solvents", are attracting a great attention because of their possibility to be tailored based on property requirements. The ionic liquids designed and synthesized for carrying out specified ...

The two known Me- and allyl-substituted 1H-imidazol-3-ium bromides 1 and 2, respectively, were converted to the corresponding BF4- and BPh4- salts 3-6 (Scheme 1). Compounds 3 and 4 were liquids at ambient temperature. Reaction of 1 or 2 with [PdCl2] afford ...

Two nitrile-functionalized alkyltriflouroborate anion based complexes [(Ph3P)(2)N][CH3CH(BF3)CH2CN] and [K(18-crown-6)][CH3CH(BF3)CH2CN] were synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic methods and single X-ray diffraction analysis. In the former comple ...

Nanoparticles can be stabilized by an ionic liq. polymer (ILP) composed of imidazolium units incorporating a hydrophobic benzyl group. The resulting gold, platinum, and palladium nanoparticles can be efficiently transferred from water to ionic liqs. by exc ...

The biphasic hydrosilylation of 1-hexadecene with siloxane B9800 in a range of ionic liqs. is reported. Of the ionic liqs. tested, [C4py][BF4] and [C4-3-pic][BF4] offer the optimum compromise between activity and ...

DIII-D research is addressing critical challenges in preparation for ITER and the next generation of fusion devices through focusing on plasma physics fundamentals that underpin key fusion goals, understanding the interaction of disparate core and boundary ...

A novel lithium salt, cyclobutane-1,1-dicarboxylic lithium was synthesized and characterized by NMR, IR, ESI-MS, X-ray single crystal analysis, and TG/DTG (TGA) thermal analysis. The crystal structure information reveals the coordination polymer nature and ...

Ionic liquids containing the nitrile and vinyl functional groups attached to imidazolium cations combined with various anions, e.g., iodide, bis[(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl]imide ([TFSI]-), or dicyanamide ([N(CN)2]-), have been prepared and characterized. Th ...

A facile method for the fabrication of dendritic gold nanoparticles (NPs) by use of an ionic polymer template has been developed. In situ generation of an imidazolium-based (cationic) polymer, poly[1-methyl-3-(4-vinylbenzyl)imidazolium], with AuCl4- counte ...

Novel chemical compounds of the general formula KA, in which K is a 5- or 6- membered heterocyclic ring having 1-3 hetereo atoms, which can be independently N, S, or 0 with the proviso that at least one of the hetereo atoms must be a quaternized n ...

A palladium complex with an aminophosphine ligand has been prepared and investigated as a catalyst precursor in Suzuki coupling reactions in toluene. Nanoparticles composed of elemental palladium have been isolated from the reaction media and analyzed usin ...

The crystal structure of a strontium-imidazolium polymeric material obtained from the reaction of zwitterionic 1,3-bis(carboxymethyl)-imidazolium with SrCO3 (2:1) in water is reported. The compound crystallized in the orthorhombic space group Pcc2 with a = ...

Highly stable palladium nanoparticles 5 nm diam., protected by an imidazolium-based ionic polymer in a nitrile-functionalized ionic liq., have been prepd. and characterized by TEM. These Pd nanoparticles are excellent precatalysts for Suzuki, Heck, and Sti ...

A series of nitrile-functionalized imidazolium salts (many of which are liquid at room temperature) have been prepared. The reactivity of these salts with PdCl2 has been studied, resulting in salts containing a tetrachloropalladate dianion or co ...

A series of allyl-functionalized imidazolium salts are reported, including 1-allyl-3-ethylimidazolium iodide and 1-allyl-3-propylimidazolium iodide, which have m.ps. close to room temp. and show typical properties of supercooled fluids if heated above thei ...

Task-specific ionic liquids bearing nitrile functional groups attached to the cation and nitrogen-donor-containing anions strongly affect the efficiency of the Stille cross-coupling, influencing the nature of the catalyst and its stability. The relative st ...

Recent developments of the synthesis and applications of functionalized ionic liqs. (including dual-functionalized ionic liqs.) have been highlighted in this review. Ionic liqs. are attracting attention as alternative solvents in green chem., but as more f ...

A series of ether-derivatized imidazolium halides have been prepd. and characterized. Contrary to literature reports, they are all cryst. solids and have m.ps. well above room temp. (50-100 °C). Single crystals of the imidazolium salts, obtained in situ by ...

The reaction of chloromethyl thiocyanate with 1-methylimidazole affords the imidazolium salt, 1-thiocyanomethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, [C1SCNmim]Cl (1a). Exchange of the chloride anion in 1a by [PF6] ...
