Copper redox mediators can be employed in dye sensitized solar cells (DSCs) both as liquid electrolytes or as solid state hole transport materials (HTMs). The solid state devices that employ copper complex HTMs can be simply obtained by solvent evaporation ...

The cyclopentadienyl Ru complexes CpRuCl(cod) (cod = 1,5-cyclooctadiene), CpRuCl(PPh3)2, and [CpRuCl2]2 (Cp = η5-1-methoxy-2,4-di-tert-butyl-3-neopentylcyclopentadienyl) are able to catalyze the decomposition of benzyl azides to give 1,3,5-triphenyl-2,4- ...

Imidazolium salts with aromatic groups 1,3-bis(9-anthracenylmethyl)imidazolium chloride ([Bamim]Cl), 1,3-bis(1-naphthalenylmethyl)imidazolium chloride ([Bnmim]Cl) and 1,3-bis( benzylmethyl)imidazolium chloride ([Bbmim]Cl) were reacted with PdCl2 forming th ...

Iron-catalyzed alkylaryl Kumada coupling has developed into an efficient synthetic method, yet its mechanism remains vague. Here, we apply a bis(oxazolinylphenyl)amido pincer ligand (Bopa) to stabilize the catalytically active Fe center, resulting in isola ...

Understanding the role of multimetallic cooperativity and of alkali ion-binding in the second coordination sphere is important for the design of complexes that can promote dinitrogen (N-2) cleavage and functionalization. Herein, we compare the reaction pro ...

Organic-inorganic metal-halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have achieved a certified power-conversion efficiency (PCE) of 25.5%. However, long-term stability and air stability of the PSCs are still major concerns and hamper commercialization. Herein, we ...

An ionic liquid encompassing a bulky tertiary amine was synthesized and used as a dual solvent-reactant for the formation of a frustrated Lewis pair with tris(pentafluorophenyl) borane, forming a pseudo-frustrated Lewis pair-ionic liquid system. The ionic ...

A mixture of two amphiphiles with fluorescent head groups can be used as a sensing ensemble for the pattern-based analysis of aminoglycoside antibiotics. In buffered aqueous solution, the amphiphiles form a dynamic mixture of micellar aggregates. In the pr ...

A mixture of the Pd(II) complex [Pd(NO3)2(bipy)] (bipy = 2,2-bipyridine) and the fluorescent dye Methylcalcein blue (MCB) constitutes a chemosensing ensemble which can be used for the detection of pyrophosphate (PPi) by fluorescence spectroscopy. The senso ...

Ionic liquids doped with I-2, usually resulting in the formation of polyiodide anions, are extensively used as electrolytes and in iodination reactions. Herein, NMR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction were used to rationalize the structures o ...

A new pincer-type bis(amido)amine (NN2) ligand and its lithium and nickel complexes, including Ni(II) methyl, ethyl, and phenyl complexes, were synthesized. The Ni(II) alkyl complexes react cleanly with alkyl halides including chlorides to form C−C coupled ...

We report seven heteroleptic cationic iridium(III) complexes with cyclometalating N-arylazoles and alkyl/aryl isocyanides, ((CN)-N-boolean AND)(2)Ir(CNR)(2), and characterize two of them by crystal structure analysis. The complexes are air- and m ...

It took only 11 years for the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) to increase from 3.8% to 25.2%. It is worth noting that, as a new thin-film solar cell technique, defect passivation at the interface is crucial for the PSCs. ...

The three-component reaction of aryl boronic acids with 1,2,4,5-tetrahydroxybenzene and 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene or 4,4-bipyridine leads to the formation of dark-purple boronate ester polymers. Crystallographic analyses show that the polymer strands have ...

LiCu3O3 is an antiferromagnetic mixed valence cuprate where trilayers of edge -sharing Cu(II)O (3d9) are sandwiched in between planes of Cu(I) (3d10) ions, with Li stochastically substituting Cu(II). Angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and de ...

Phosphane complexes of the putative formula [CoX2(dppe)] [X = Cl, Br, I; dppe = bis(diphenylphosphanyl)ethane] are frequently used catalyst precursors in cobalt-catalyzed reactions. Despite their widespread use, these complexes have not been structurally c ...

Charge-assisted hydrogen bonds (CAHBs) play critical roles in many systems from biology through to materials. In none of these areas has the role and function of CAHBs been explored satisfactorily because of the lack of data on the energy of CAHBs in the c ...

The thiolate ligand in the five-coordinate model complex 1 of [Fe]-hydrogenase is preferentially and reversibly protonated, even in the presence of an acyl ligand. The results suggest that the Cys176 thiolate ligand in [Fe]-hydrogenase can serve as the int ...

A new series of Ni NNN pincer complexes were synthesized and characterized. The main difference among these complexes is the substituents on the side arm amino group(s). No major structural difference was found except for the C-N-C angle of the various sub ...

Reaction of the zwitterionic imidazolium salt [(CH2COOH)(CH2COO)i.m.] with K2CO3 or BaO in the presence of 18-crown-6 affords the salts [(CH2COO)2i.m.][K(18-crown-6)] and [(CH2COO)2i.m.]2[Ba(18-crown-6)]. Recrystn. of these crown complexes from the ionic l ...
