Quantum engineering is an emerging discipline, which involves studies of materials, devices, circuits, and architectures that are necessary to develop quantum-based systems. Recently, quantum computing has received significant attention, and large investme ...

We present the designs of novel optode based probes integrating light detection and light-pulsing electronics in a single CMOS chip with functional blocks such as a fast pulse-laser driver and synchronized single-photon detection circuit, while exploiting ...

We describe the performance of a new wide area time-gated single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) array for phasor-FLIM, exploring the effect of gate length, gate number and signal intensity on the measured lifetime accuracy and precision. We conclude that th ...

This paper describes a novel method to fabricate polymer MEMS based on the inkjet printing of SU-8, with a special emphasis on integrated micro-optical lens arrays. Inkjet control parameters are optimized in order to enable a stable and reproducible ejecti ...

We report on the first implementation of a single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) in 90nm complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology. The detector features an octagonal multiplication region and a guard ring to prevent premature edge breakdown ...

Integrated circuit (1) comprising: an array of single photon avalanche diodes (SPADs), a plurality of read-out circuits, each SPADs being coupled to one read-out circuit, wherein at least some of the read-out circuits comprise time-to-digital converters (T ...

Since the early 20th century, molecular beam research has led to many advances in physics and chemistry, from precision molecule metrology, over tests of fundamental symmetries, and molecular quantum optics to applied mass spectrometry. All such experiment ...

The present invention concerns a time-of-flight based imaging system comprising a photon emitterused as an illumination source a photon sensor (6) an electronic system for delivering a signal depending on the reception time of photons by said photon detect ...

Cryogenic device models are essential for the reliable design of the cryo-CMOS interface that enables large-scale quantum computers. In this paper, mismatch characterization and modeling of a 40-nm bulk CMOS process over the 4.2-300 K temperature range is ...

A light spectrometer including a laser configured to provide for a laser pulse (12), a quantum dot (30), an objective (21) configured to focus the laser pulse (12) onto the quantum dot (30) such that a fluorescent light beam is emitted from the quantum dot ...

Smarty is a fully-reconfigurable on-chip feed-forward artificial neural network (ANN) with ten integrated time-to-digital converters (TDCs) designed in a 16 nm FinFET CMOS technology node. The integration of TDCs together with an ANN aims to reduce system ...

We present the first avalanche photodiode (APD) successfully fabricated in standard 65nm CMOS technology. The APD operates both in proportional and Geiger mode at -60C to +60C temperature range. The device comprises an octagonal n+p-well junction surrounde ...

An ultrahigh-impedance superconducting switch could be used to integrate superconducting systems and CMOS control circuitry. ...

A light microscope comprises a light source (10) for illuminating a specimen (35), a sensor array (60) comprised of photon-counting detector elements (61, 62) for measuring detection light (15) coming from the specimen (35), and a control device (70) for c ...
