Photoinduced electron transfer (PET) across molecular/bulk interfaces has gained attention only recently and is still poorly understood. These interfaces offer an excellent case study, pertinent to a variety of photovoltaic systems, photo- and electrochemi ...

We report two new molecularly engineered push-pull dyes, i.e., YA421 and YA422, based on substituted quinoxaline as a pi-conjugating linker and bulky-indoline moiety as donor and compared with reported IQ4 dye. Benefitting from increased steric hindrance w ...

Two donor-π-acceptor (D-π-A) dyes are synthesized for application in dye- sensitized solar cells (DSSC). These D-π-A sensitizers use triphenylamine as donor, oligothiophene as both donor and π-bridge, and benzothiadiazole (BTDA)/cyanoacrylic acid as accept ...

To improve their efficiency beyond the state-of-the-art, D-pi-A dyes must display increased spectral breadth and account for the physical limitations observed in the dye. sensitized solar cells. In particular, they should be designed to control the electro ...

Electron transfers (ET) between a donor (D) and an acceptor (A) through a molecular bridge (B) are of great importance in biological systems, molecular electronics and molecular based light-energy conversion systems. Here, the back and the forward electron ...

Lead halide perovskites have recently been used as light absorbers in hybrid organic–inorganic solid-state solar cells, with efficiencies as high as 15% and open-circuit voltages of 1 V. However, a detailed explanation of the mechanisms of operation within ...

We report a pump–probe spectroscopy study of electron injection rates in dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) devices. We examine the case of working devices employing an N719 ruthenium sensitizer and an iodide electrolyte. Electron injection is found to occur ...

Mesoscopic solid-state solar cells based on the inorganic-organic hybrid perovskite CH(3)NH(3)Pbl(3) in conjunction with the amorphous organic semiconductor spiro-MeOTAD as a hole transport material (HIM) are investigated using impedance spectroscopy (IS). ...

Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) represents a reliable technology, ready for the market and able to compete with silicon solar cells for specific fields of application. Porphyrin dyes allow reaching high power conversion efficiency in conjunction with cob ...

Copper redox mediators can be employed in dye sensitized solar cells (DSCs) both as liquid electrolytes or as solid state hole transport materials (HTMs). The solid state devices that employ copper complex HTMs can be simply obtained by solvent evaporation ...

Electron transfer reactions taking place at the surface of dye-sensitized semiconductors are key processes in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). After light absorption, the excited state of a dye injects an electron into a wide-bandgap semiconductor, usua ...

We synthesized the Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes of the 2,7,12,17-tetrapropionic acid of 3,8,13,18-tetramethyl-21H,23H porphyrin (coproporphyrin-I) and successfully employed them as sensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells. Copper(II) coproporphyrin-I exhib ...

Novel donor-p-acceptor (D--A) dyes, coded as SD-1, SD-2 and SD-5, were designed and synthesized for dye-sensitized solar cells. All these dyes comprised the same donor and acceptor units while the oligo thiophene units were introduced as linkers between th ...

Organic-inorganic hybrid systems based on lead halide compounds have recently encountered considerable success as light absorbers in solid-state solar cells. Herein we show how fundamental mechanistic processes in mesoporous oxide films impregnated with CH3NH3PbI3 can be investigated by time resolved techniques. In particular, charge separation reactions such as electron injection into the titanium dioxide film and hole injection into the hole transporting material spiro-OMeTAD as well as the corresponding

Regeneration of dye sensitizer molecules by reducing species contained in the electrolyte is a key mechanism in liquid dye-sensitized solar cells because it competes kinetically with a detrimental charge recombination process. Kinetics of the reduction by ...

Molecular systems designed for the conversion of solar energy offer ideal models in the study of the kinetics of light-induced electron transfer at surfaces. Due to their high porosity, nanocrystalline oxide semiconductor films allow investigations of inte ...

Herein, we present the precise stoichiometric control of methlyammonium lead iodide perovskite thin-films using high vacuum dual-source vapor-phase deposition. We found that UV/Vis absorption and emission spectra were inadequate for assessing precisely the ...

The paradigm shift in dye sensitized solar cells (DSCs) - towards donor-pi bridge-acceptor (D-pi-A) dyes - increases the performances of DSCs and challenges established design principles. Framed by this shifting landscape, a series of four diketopyrrolopyr ...

We report on rapid halide exchange in metal halide perovskite of the general formula MAPbX(3) (X = Cl, Br, or I). We find that when the perovskite is infiltrated in a mesoscopic scaffold, halide substitution on the perovskite lattice is strikingly fast, be ...
