Solvents play a crucial role in many chemical reactions and additives can be used to shift the reaction equilibrium. Herein we study the enthalpy of mixing for selected solvents (aqueous, organic) and basic additives (amines, aqueous KOH) when mixed with f ...

The question is addressed of whether the triruthenium cluster cation Ru-3(mu(2)-H)(3)(eta(6)C(6)H(6))(eta(6)-C6Me6)(2)(mu(3)-O), 1, is a supramolecular, outer-sphere benzene hydrogenation catalyst or is 1 a precatalyst to well-known Ru(0)(n) catalysis ...

Due to the highly complex polyphenolic structure of lignin, depolymerization without a prior chemical treatment is challenging, and new catalysts are required. Atomically dispersed catalysts are able to maximize the atomic efficiency of noble metals, simul ...

The homogeneous catalytic system, based on water-soluble ruthenium(II)– TPPTS catalyst (TPPTS = meta-trisulfonated triphenylphosphine), selectively decomposes HCOOH into H2 and CO2 in aqueous solution. Although this reaction results in only two gas product ...

Carbon dioxide and the carbonates, the available natural C-1 sources, can be easily hydrogenated into formic acid and formates in water; the rate of this reduction strongly depends on the pH of the solution. This reaction is catalysed by ruthenium(II) pre- ...

The ruthenium(II) hexaaqua complex [Ru(H2O)6]2+ reacts with dihydrogen under pressure to give the h2-dihydrogen ruthenium(II) pentaaqua complex [Ru(H2)(H2O)5]2+.The complex was characterized by 1H, 2H and 17O NMR: d H = -7.65 ppm, J HD = 31.2 Hz, d O = -80 ...

Hydrogen is one of the essential reactants in the chemical industry, though its generation from renewable sources and storage in a safe and reversible manner remain challenging. Formic acid (HCO2H or FA) is a promising source and storage material in this r ...

The hydrogenation of phenylacetone to cyclohexylacetone, in which the aromatic ring is selectively reduced in preference to the carbonyl group, has been achieved with chemoselectivities exceeding 90%. The catalyst (precatalyst) used to achieve this transfo ...

Monodispersed Pd nanoparticles of 5 and 10 nm were obtained via reduction of Pd(acac)2 dissolved in ionic liquid (IL), [bmim][PF6], or [bmimOH][TF2N], supported on carbon nanofibers (CNF) anchored to sintered metal fibers (SMF). Using [bmimOH][TF2N], the m ...

Structured supported ionic liquid-phase (SSILP) catalysis is a new concept with the advantages of ionic liquids (ILs) used as solvents for homogeneous catalyst and the further benefits of structured heterogeneous catalysts. This is achieved by confining th ...

The performance of rhodium complex [Cp*Rh(bis(pyrazol-1-yl)methane)Cl]Cl was evaluated for formic acid dehydrogenation in aqueous solution. Solid-state X-ray diffraction helped to confirm the catalyst structure. Multinuclear NMR spectroscopy was employed t ...

The chemical transformation of CO2 and bicarbonates into useful products becomes increasingly impor- tant as the atmospheric CO2 level has reached 400 ppm. Here a small library of sulfonated aryl mono- phosphines and aryl diphosphines was tested as stabili ...

Reaction pathways during CO2 hydrogenation catalyzed by the Ru dihydride complex [Ru(dmpe)2H2] (dmpe=Me2PCH2CH2PMe2) have been studied by DFT calculations and by IR ...

Hydrogen bonding in ionic liquids based on the 1-(2'-hydroxylethyl)-3-methylimidazolium cation (C(2)OHmim) and various anions (A) of differing H-bond acceptor strength, viz. hexafluorophosphate PF6, tetrafluoroborate BF4, bis-(trifluoro ...

In this work, we studied catalytic formic acid dehydrogenation with a homogeneous RAPTA type precatalyst in aqueous solution. The effects of an amino group, attached to the arene, and the impact of a second equivalent of 1,3,5‐triaza‐7‐phosphaadamantane (P ...

Hydroformylation of vinyl arenes (p-metboxystyrene and p-fluorostyrene) was performed in aqueous solutions using as catalyst precursor Rh(mu-OMe)(cod) (cod = 1,5-cyclooctadiene) associated with the sulfonated 1,3-diarylphosphines (tetra-sulfonated 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)propane (dpppts)) and the chiral (S,S)-bdppts (2,4-bis(diphenylphosphino)pentane). The influence of pH on the reaction rate was studied. After 24 h conversion was practically total with the achiral system in basic medium for the subs

A new range of pendent diphosphine (η6-p-cymene)ruthenium(II) complexes, [RuCl(PPh3)(η1-(P-P))(η6-p-cymene)]PF6 (P-P = dppm, cis-PPh2CHCHPPh2

[Rh-4 (CO)(6) (mu-Me2PCH2PMe2)(3)], the first example of a hexasubstituted derivative of Rh-4(CO)(12), has a ground state geometry in the solid state and in solution of C-s symmetry with four edge-bridging carbonyls and with each diphosphine ligand bridging one edge of the same Rh-3 face. The result is an imbalance of the formal electron count at two rhodium atoms. As observed by C-13- and P-31-NMR, the mobility of the ligands is restricted to one mu-CO eta-CO site exchange which astonishingly does not

As observed by variable-temperature and -pressure C-13 NMR, intramolecular carbonyl scrambling in Ir2Rh2(CO)(12) and Ir-4(CO)(11)(mu-SO2) proceeds via a 'change of basal face' mechanism. In both cases the site exchange process has a positive activation vol ...
