We study an adaptive statistical approach to analyze brain networks represented by brain connection matrices of interregional connectivity (connectomes). Our approach is at a middle level between a global analysis and single connections analysis by conside ...

When testing many null hypotheses, deciding which of them to reject is a subtle game. The prevailing approach consists in deciding on a level and type of control against false rejections (errors of type I) and subject to this constraint to maximize the number of rejections. The two extreme types of control are the FWER (family-wise error rate, probability of at least one false rejection) and FDR (false discovery rate, expected rate of false rejections among all rejections). In this talk, I will discuss two

Over the last two decades, a large variety of type I error rates and control procedures have been proposed in the field of multiple hypotheses testing. This paper proposes a framework that includes many existing proposals by investigating procedures in whi ...

The cerebellum is involved in multiple sclerosis (MS), but its implication in early phases is still poorly understood. We investigated structural and functional cerebellar connectivity alterations in early and minimally impaired MS patients, and their corr ...

Background: Very preterm (VPT) children and adolescents show executive, behavioural and socio-emotional difficulties that persist into adulthood. Despite the promising role of mindfulness-based intervention (MBI) in improving theses competences in children ...

Physiological Brain connectivity and spontaneous interaction between regions of interest of the brain can be represented by a matrix (full or sparse) or equivalently by a complex network called connectome. This representation of brain connectivity is adopt ...

Extreme prematurity and pregnancy conditions leading to intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) affect thousands of newborns every year and increase their risk for poor higher order cognitive and social skills at school age. However, little is known about t ...

Dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) measured by functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) shows evidence of large-scale networks with highly dynamic (re) configurations. We propose a novel approach to extract traces of human brain function by the cons ...

Very preterm (VPT) children and adolescents show executive, behavioural and socio-emotional difficulties that persists into adulthood. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of a mindfulness-based intervention (MBI) in improving these competencies in ...

We consider the problem of testing positively dependent multiple hypotheses assuming that a prior information about the dependence structure is available. We propose two-step multiple comparisons procedures that exploit the prior information of the dependence structure, without relying on strong assumptions. In the first step, we group the tests into subsets where tests are supposed to be positively dependent and in each of which we compute the standardized mean of the test scores. Given the subset mean sco

Neonatal intensive care units are willing to apply environmental enrichment via music for preterm newborns. However, no evidence of an effect of music on preterm brain development has been reported to date. Using resting-state fMRI, we characterized a circ ...

There is growing interest in understanding the role of the non-injured contra-lateral hemisphere in stroke recovery. In the experimental field, histological evidence has been reported that structural changes occur in the contra-lateral connectivity and cir ...

Conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) measures of multiple sclerosis patients provide limited information about the nature and the extent of brain damage and repair. We established a clinically compatible protocol including quantitative MRI techniq ...

An important question in neuroscience is to reveal the relationship between individual performance and brain activity. This could be achieved by applying model regression techniques, in which functional connectivity derived from resting-state functional ma ...

When many (m) null hypotheses are tested with a single dataset, the control of the number of false rejections is often the principal consideration. Two popular controlling rates are the probability of making at least one false discovery (FWER) and the expected fraction of false discoveries among all rejections (FDR). Scaled multiple comparison error rates form a new family that bridges the gap between these two extremes. For example, the Scaled Expected Value (SEV) limits the number of false positives relat

Given the large number of papers written over the last ten years on error controls in high dimensional multiple testing, it would be worthwhile to consider a single comprehensive technique that allows user flexibility in error control when dealing with big ...

Conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of patients with multiple sclerosis provides only limited insights into the nature of brain tissue damage with modest clinical-radiological correlations. In this study, quantitative and semi-quantitative MRI te ...

Identification of neuroimaging biomarkers following extreme prematurity (EP) and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) is crucial for understanding their cognitive and behavioral impairments at school age
