Music is known to induce emotions and activate associated memories, including musical memories. In adults, it is well known that music activates both working memory and limbic networks. We have recently discovered that as early as during the newborn period ...

ObjectivePrematurity is associated with a high risk of long-term behavioral problems. This study aimed to assess the prognostic utility of volumetric brain data at term-equivalent-age (TEA), clinical perinatal factors, and parental social economic risk in ...

When many (m) null hypotheses are tested with a single dataset, the control of the number of false rejections is often the principal consideration. Two popular controlling rates are the probability of making at least one false discovery (Bonferroni) and the expected fraction of false discoveries among all rejections (Benjamini-Hochberg). Methods controlling these rates based on the ordered p-values p(1) , ... p(m) are well-known. In this talk, we present a new family of multiple testing procedures that brid

Objective Mild neurocognitive disorders (MND) affect a subset of HIV+ patients under effective combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). In this study, we used an innovative multi-contrast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) approach at high-field to assess ...

Higher risk for long-term behavioral and emotional sequelae, with attentional problems (with or without hyperactivity) is now becoming one of the hallmarks of extreme premature (EP) birth and birth after pregancy conditions leading to poor intra uterine growth restriction (IUGR) [1,2]. However, little is know so far about the neurostructural basis of these complexe brain functional abnormalities that seem to have their origins in early critical periods of brain development. The development of cortical axona

The revised NEO Personality Inventory (NEOPI-R), popularly known as the five-factor model, defines five personality factors: Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness to Experience, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness. The structural correlates of these persona ...

Patients with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) suffer from widespread subtle white matter abnormalities and abnormal functional connectivity extending beyond the affected lobe, as revealed by Diffusion Tensor MR Imaging, volumetric and functional MRI studies. Diffusion Spectrum Imaging (DSI) is a diffusion imaging technique with high angular resolution for improving the mapping of white matter pathways. In this study, we used DSI, connectivity matrices and topological measures to investigate how the alteration

Survival of children born prematurely or with very low birth weight has increased dramatically but the long term developmental outcome remains a concern with many children having deficits in their cognitive capacities, in particular involving executive domains. The origins of these disabilities are largely unknown but are likely to involve an overriding central nervous system deficit. In prior studies we and others had shown that both prematurity and IUGR affect newborn brain structures (cite Inder TE 2005,

Understanding rate and variability of connectivity in normal brain development can offer insight into the developmental origin of childhood and adult brain disorders. Indeed, there is increasing interest towards assessing the development of white matter (WM) fibers underlying the complex brain connectivity [1], since the development of functional connections is clearly dependent on the establishment of cortical fiber pathways [2,3], their appropriate maturation and myelination. However, correlation of struc

Detecting local differences between groups of connectomes is a great challenge in neuroimaging, because the large number of tests that have to be performed and the impact on multiplicity correction. Any available information should be exploited to increase ...

Introduction. Local microstructural pathology in multiple sclerosis patients might influence their clinical performance. This study applied multicontrast MRI to quantify inflammation and neurodegeneration in MS lesions. We explored the impact of MRI-based ...

Recent developments in medical imaging and image analysis allow the determination of interregional brain connectivity through diffusion Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) tractography. The brain connectivity is represented by a connection matrix where each c ...

Over the last ten years, Diffusion-weighted Imaging (DWI) has become an important tool to investigate white matter (WM) anomalies in schizophrenia. Despite technological improvement and the exponential use of this technique, discrepancies remain and little ...

Premature birth has been associated with poor neurodevelopmental outcomes. However, the relation between such outcomes and brain growth in the neonatal period has not yet been fully elucidated. This study investigates longitudinal brain development between ...

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is thought to reflect disrupted development of brain connectivity characterized by white matter abnormalities and dyscoordination of activity across brain regions that give rise to core features. But there is little consensus ...

Resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) opens a window on large-scale organization of brain function. However, establishing relationships between resting-state brain activity and cognitive or clinical scores is still a difficult task, in particular in terms ...

Background: Cerebellar pathology occurs in late multiple sclerosis (MS) but little is known about cerebellar changes during early disease stages. In this study, we propose a new multicontrast “connectometry” approach to assess the structural and functional ...

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is accompanied by resting-state alterations, including abnormal activity, connectivity and asymmetry of the default-mode network (DMN). Concurrently, recent studies suggested a link between ADHD and the prese ...

In multiple testing, a variety of control metrics of false positives have been introduced such as the Per Family Error Rate (PFER), Family-Wise Error Rate (FWER), the False Discovery Rate (FDR), the False Exceedence Rate (FER). In this talk, we present a comprehensive family of error rates together with a corresponding family of multiple testing procedures (MTP). Based on the needs of the problem at hand, the user can choose a particular member among these MTPs. The new error rate limits the number of false

Objectives: Contralesional brain connectivity plasticity was previously reported after stroke. This study aims at disentangling the biological mechanisms underlying connectivity plasticity in the uninjured motor network after an ischemic lesion. In particu ...
