Brain metastases (BM) are an emerging challenge in modern oncology due to increasing incidence and limited treatments. Recent work by our group and others has illustrated that immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) are a promising therapy for treatment-refractory BM of diverse histologies. To build upon our findings and integrate ICI into precision medicine strategies for BM, scalable tools that quantify likelihood of response are needed. We curated a multi-institutional dataset of longitudinal mpMRI for 860 BM

Understanding rate and variability of connectivity in normal brain development can offer insight into the developmental origin of childhood and adult brain disorders. Indeed, there is increasing interest towards assessing the development of white matter (WM) fibers underlying the complex brain connectivity [1], since the development of functional connections is clearly dependent on the establishment of cortical fiber pathways [2,3], their appropriate maturation and myelination. However, correlation of struc

In the context of next generation radio telescopes, like the Square Kilometre Array, the efficient processing of large-scale datasets is extremely important. Convex optimisation tasks under the compressive sensing framework have recently emerged and provid ...

The estimation of the apparent axon diameter (AAD) via diffusion MRI is affected by the incoherent alignment of single axons around its axon bundle direction, also known as orientational dispersion. The simultaneous estimation of AAD and dispersion is chal ...

Rapid and efficient transmission of electric signals among neurons of vertebrates is ensured by myelin-insulating sheaths surrounding axons. Human cognition, sensation, and motor functions rely on the integrity of these layers, and demyelinating diseases o ...

Unsupervised anomaly detection in medical images such as chest radiographs is stepping into the spotlight as it mitigates the scarcity of the labor-intensive and costly expert annotation of anomaly data. However, nearly all existing methods are formulated ...

Many closed-form analytical models have been proposed to relate the diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DW-MRI) signal to microstructural features of white matter tissues. These models generally make assumptions about the tissue and the diffusio ...

Detecting local differences between groups of connectomes is a great challenge in neuroimaging, because the large number of tests that have to be performed and the impact on multiplicity correction. Any available information should be exploited to increase ...

In this paper we present a new method to track bone movements in stereoscopic X-ray image series of the knee joint. The method is based on two different X-ray image sets: a rotational series of acquisitions of the still subject knee that will allow the tom ...

In the last decade diffusion MRI has become a powerful tool to non-invasively study white-matter integrity in the brain. Recently many research groups have focused their attention on multi-shell spherical acquisitions with the aim of effectively mapping th ...

Introduction. Local microstructural pathology in multiple sclerosis patients might influence their clinical performance. This study applied multicontrast MRI to quantify inflammation and neurodegeneration in MS lesions. We explored the impact of MRI-based ...

Diffusion-weighted MRI (DW-MRI) has recently seen a rising interest in planar, spherical and general B-tensor encodings. Some of these sequences have aided traditional linear encoding in the estimation of white matter microstructural features, generally by ...

Goal: Difficult tracheal intubation is a major cause of anesthesia related injuries with potential life threatening complications. Detection and anticipation of difficult airway in the preoperative period is thus crucial for the patients’ safety. We propos ...

In this paper, we present an efficient approach for unsupervised segmentation of natural and textural images based on the extraction of image features and a fast active contour segmentation model. We address the problem of textures where neither the gray-l ...

Diffusion MRI is a well established imaging modality providing a powerful way to probe the structure of the white matter non-invasively. Despite its potential, the intrinsic long scan times of these sequences have hampered their use in clinical practice. F ...

Ultrafast imaging based on plane-wave (PW) insonification is an active area of research due to its capability of reaching high frame rates. Among PW imaging methods, Fourier-based approaches have demonstrated to be competitive compared to traditional delay ...

Background Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is widely used to treat vestibular schwannomas but may cause irreversible hearing loss due to cochlear toxicity. The underlying mechanisms are not fully understood, and no effective otoprotective therapies exist. We aimed to establish a mouse model that replicates the clinical pattern of radiation-induced hearing loss. Methods C57BL/6J mice ( n = 31) received 8 Gy ( n = 3), 16 Gy ( n = 5), 24 Gy ( n = 8), or 32 Gy ( n = 15) using the Leksell Gamma Knife ICON system
